Default I have joined the ranks of unemployed.
Nurses are still in high demand in other areas of the country. You'll be fine.

My condolences. I am in the process of being made redundant myself, but there seem to be plenty of opportunities though so I don't think it will ever reach a point where I am out of work. In fact I may do quite well out of it. Plus the German branch of my company may want to hire me back as a freelance consultant for a project they have, which means a lot of money.

He wasn't even thinking about doing anything

Well I hope you find more work, I don't know what the conditions are like in your sector. Mine seem to be quite buoyant, and I have friends in high places. What do you all reckon to emigrating to Switzerland?

There have been health worker shortages in Alberta from time to time. Organisations would be able to bring you in on a legit visa if they want to hire you.

I'm not sure of the specifics of the plan, and I think there is more than one because I have heard various stories. I've heard the workers have to complete the term and leave or the organisation reapply. I've heard others that are a bridge to permanent immigration. I'm not sure of the specifics at all.

Well it is one of the serious options on the table. My last project was almost two years and I was very well regarded there and they may want to take me on as a permanent now they can do it without issue, and I have friends in high places.

I don't beleive there is a surplus of nurses in Houston though there may have been a surplus of hospital beds. You will almost certainly find something.

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR THE SUPPORT!!!

Well, I got my monthly state nursing news letter today and on the front page " what happened to the nursing shortage? "

SH!IT!!!! I just sat here typing for an hour tell my problems then my laptop keys erased all but what is at the top.

Oh well. let me start over.
They have imported so many overseas nurses that the ratio 10 years ago has gone from 10 jobs per nurse to 20 nurses per job.
The imorted nurses are more educated with BA and masters. They are under contract so they are paid less than the averge rate of pay.Plus the facilitys that hire them get kick backs from the government.
So, why would a employer pay me $32 per hour when they can pay a over educated nurse $18 to @20 per hour.
The only way I can compete is to go back to school.
Sh!t! I'm 47 years old and too damn lazy to want to go back to school.
Nursing is all I know.

Hell, I had a lot more than this the first time but now I'm tired of typing.
I have a job intervew tommorow at a damn nursing home.
I going to ask to start at $26 perhr. I will let you know what they will pay.
thats another thing, I use to be able to tell them how much I wanted rper hour because I have 21 years experince as a nurse, now they tell you what they will pay.
Negotians are a thing of the past.

Thanks again!

your friend

William

Nurses are still in high demand in other areas of the country. You'll be fine.
Florida and California (basically states with lots of old folks) have a huge demand for nurses. Even with a local unemployment rate of 10.5% (which is an all time local high since the 1930's) there are still tons of nurses wanted ads. If you can't find a job in Texas then look to Florida or California because they're hiring tons of nurses.

You'll land on your own feet, Doc. It'll be ok.
He better. At least he better not land on my feet. I don't need anyone squashing my feet. I guess he can land on yours and that would be OK by me.
