Default bondurant, wyoming ranch pics
My big sister lives out in the wilds of western wyoming (note the subtle alliteration there ). a few weeks ago she sent some pics of her and her boyfriend (both on their horses) while they were out riding actually rounding up lost cattle. Just this last tuesday they got some winter weather, so I thought I'd post about how quickly the weather can change out there. She tells me that it can frost there any month of the year, and towards the teton mountains you can have snow falling from the sky in july (ick); great only if you need some ice for your ice tea while you're out on a picnic! I spent a few winters in the jackson hole area working at ski resorts etc and though it was very pretty there and there were lots of activities, the winter was just too long. It was pretty ironic that the last winter I was there, when I headed home to upstate ny in mid-april, the two coldest places were the mountain regions of northwestern wyoming (jackson) and upstate ny!

sister's boyfriend; note that this is a rude horse; if you look closely, you can see that it's sticking its tongue out at the camera!

big sis on the trail

neither man nor beast enjoys wind/snow at this time of year

trusty cattle dog (at least until the mountain lions show up)

note that my sister took these images

Sis took a very good picture of the dog. Looks very serious in his (or her) job.

The last three photos make me feel cold just looking at them! Very pretty, though!

Good photography must be genetic in your family, Charles.

Beautiful country, but I can do without the ice in July!

cnycharles very nice photos! Sis and I went out that way some years back to visit friends. Folks told us they only have two seasons there, winter and July!

I complain about winter as it is, I guess I'm not cut out for the wilds of Wyoming. Pretty though.

Brrrrrr.
I'm hoping to retire at a constant 75/65F. Just dreaming.

I almost got thrown out of Yellowstone twice, within 2hrs.
The first time was stepping off the boardwalk at 6:00am.
Just because they are dressed like tourist, doesn't mean they are!

Me too! I like the change of seasons but winter is long enough where I'm at and forget -20 for a month!

Gorgeous country, but BRRRR!!!! I once spent a month in the Bozeman, Montana area from mid September to mid October and watched fall progress into early winter. I loved it, but a mere 2 weeks later the cabin I was staying in was under a couple feet of snow! Wow, that's too much for these aging bones

Lovely photos, thanks for sharing!
