I've merged a few of the other colors pics, and posted a few images from fellow photographer art clark at the end of the other 'fall colors 1' thread I started yesterday. we went to limestone hollow nature center and nearby near McLean, NY yesterday and there quite a few interesting things, though I didn't have my camera for those four pics. these pics below are from last week and are mine

yes, it would be nice to get rid of those power lines... I wish that I had a wide-angle lens for pictures like this where I can get more of the rolling landscape and trees + barn more up-close along with landscape views. it's a very pretty spot

Thanks for sharing the colors. Have you noticed the leaves are droping quickly. Here in Northwestern lower Michigan they went from green, to astounding, to brown on the ground in about two days... Yet no frost and the cymbidiums are still outside!!

My grandparents lived 30-40miles south of Rochester.
It looks very same landscape and density.

Where are all the bucks with the fat necks and nice racks?

It's been a poor fall color year in my area too, just as lindafrog indicated & I'm on the other side of the lake! Too dry is my guess.

We had abundant rain this summer. No dragging hoses across the yard to water the flower beds. Wish I could have sent Goldenrose some of our rain.
Bummer about the lack of colors isn't it. Still didn't keep the leafys from driving around the area. Low near 34 tonight... should I bring in the cymbidiums?

I have never grown cymbidiums myself, but I know people used to dump buckets of ice on them, or leave them out when they'd get a little snow. maybe a light blanket over them and let them get chilled (but not frost contact)?

we've had rain off and on, but the leaves were sort of in two waves and they've been persistent and lasting for the most part. clark, not far from the barn in the one pic a few days ago a spikehorn buck was hit by a car, just minutes before I came through. there are large doe in the fields around where our greenhouses are, but I don't think i've seen many big deer; heard out around the farms between and around the finger lakes there are some, and spots around the north. your grandparents live around canandaigua?

Always thought the whitetail population was on the thin side around that area. Strange, because it was all corn and soy being grown.

maybe there isn't a lot of woodlands? I know they don't really eat soybeans that much (I think). besides, I think deer prefer landscape plants over corn any day!
believe it or not, I still haven't seen a moose east of the mississippi yet though they are in the moose river plains here and there and of course north of there. just the other day, ken who I went hiking with this week was warning me that, if you are driving along in maine (or anywhere else that has moose) and come upon one standing in or on the side of the road, you should refrain from blowing your horn at it unless you want your car to be totaled...
