What a turd burglar. This refers to the girl, not the guy. She seems like a chump.

Side note, why would anyone protest a G20 summit?

So what's the problem?
Their video was carefully editted to suit the protesters agenda, w4 don't know what happened before the clip started, or during the breaks between that and the arrest and then before they were placed in the van.
personally, I would say she was either very niave or looking for a reaction, as would I, the Officer found the bubbles to be offensive when blown in his direction, and warned her in a polite but firm manner.

On the face of it he did nothing wrong - so lay off!

BTW, while most "G" protesters may be fairly honest and well meaning, there are also many who are there to cause trouble.

So wait, he asked her not to blow bubbles in his face because of the risk of the detergent getting into his eyes, and he is at fault?

She was the one blowing the bubbles, literally getting into their faces. The video conveniently didn't show when she started - could have been going on for several minutes before the cop gave them the footage they wanted!

Plus, as I pointed out, there were a couple of big gaps in the video as posted - probably because it would show the protesters up in a bad light - possible provoking the Police by more physical methods.
Certainly seemed like a completely different scenario where she was against the wal - like a different cop!

Remember, that site is deliberately trying to cause trouble - just look at the inflamatory language used - they're bordering on incitement!
If they suck you in, shame on tou!

I hate videos like that.

Firstly, "officer bubbles" Never reached a level where he was making "teeth-clenching, vein-popping threats". Secondly, as far as I could see her asked he not to do something, somewhat sternly and clear so she understood. To which she got narky about. Then some other hippy ****** appeared (before the cut) and then she was arrested.

If she wasn't blowing bubbles in their general direction, I could understand some complaint about an over reaction. However, The fact she stood, by the looks of things, about a metre away blowing bubbles into their faces, that's unreasonable towards ANYONE unless they wish to participate voluntarily, let alone an police officer.

If it was me, I would have just arrested her for being a hippy c*nt.

I don't always side with the cops, but this is one time i can't help but do so. Those morons there went looking for a fight, doing things that are designed to provoke, and then whine when they get the response when they were looking for. Frankly, i wouldn't mind seeing the cops beat down some of these morons, but that is a different topic...

Looks like a classic example of provoking simply for video footage.

It's possible that he's a complete nutter, but it's possible that the girl had been taunting him for a while. You can't really come to a decision either way without seeing more footage.

Something in her reaction to the way he first spoke to her makes me think that she wasn't being malicious though.

The whole thing is blown out of proportion from both sides.

Being arrested for assault with bubbles? Thats a joke and wont hold water in court. The cop could have just asked her in a pleasant manner not to blow bubbles in his direction, instead of being a prick about it. Its just bubbles.

She could have turned around, ignored his caveman attitude and blow bubbles in another direction with her back facing his face.

Next thing, cops will start arresting clouds for assault with water when it rains.

Give me a break... [rolleyes]

There is nothing directly connecting the two issues, the bubbles and the arrest were separated by a cut in the video and the scenes were quite far apart., with a different officer arresting her!
All of which support the view that it was a simple 'hatchet job' on the officer by a radical, troublemaking web site - you DID read the text, didn't you?

So, I fully support the officer in THIS case, on the evidence shown!

No worries, sometimes you've just got to be a bit cynical about things like that.

Almost all cops are good, decent guys and gals doing a nasty, unpleasant job with little thanks - but there are bad people everywhere! On the evidence, they're trying to make one of the former one of the latter, and it stinks!
