Last week ... was in the rough on the edge of the fringe with about 60 ft in to the pin. Extremely easy chip shot due to the lie. Due to the length & lie in the rough, had to hit a basic firm chip. Managed to chunk it so bad with the gap wedge, it went about 2 ft past the edge of the rough onto the fringe - didn't make it the 5 ft or so it would have taken to even make it to the green. Worst chip I've ever seen - perhaps in the history of golf. Just stood there for a few seconds in disbelief - amazed at the pure awfulness I had just witnessed. Dreadful doesn't begin to explain it....

There have been many, but this one is fresh in my memory. (4 weeks ago) Par 4, I was in the rough about 200 yards out. My ball was sitting up in the rough. I didn't take that into consideration for some reason. I took my swing with my 4 Hybrid and the club head went right under the ball. I guess I am used to having to dig the ball out. The ball hits off of the top of the club and went 3 yards backwards. It had so my spin on it, it hit and rolled another yard or two backwards. All I could do was laugh with the rest of my foursome.

While not mine...I have seen two people hit themselves in their man parts. One was many years ago playing with my dad. In the woods hit a tree in front of him, right back into the jewels. Second time was way better. Playing with a group of friends. Teeing off he hit his drive right off the side of the club dead right, hit the tee marker and right back into his nuts. Dropped like a sack of potatoes.

A couple of years ago I yanked a tee shot way left that proceeded to go into a giant oak tree about 40 yards away. Me and my buddies heard the ball hit and rattle around the tree but no one saw it come out. A couple seconds later the ball landed in the tee box a few feet behind me. Needless to say we all had a good chuckle about that one.

I almost killed War Eagle at the Morgan Cup this year. I was playing out of a bunker and he was standing behind me. I shanked it so bad it hit the lip of the bunker flew backwards over his head by only 6 inchs.

I had another few years ago where i hit an insane slice onto the hole adjacent to us, hitting a kid square on the shoulder. We all roared as we knew where it was going. When I got up to him i apologized but the poor kid was crying, his friend was bent over laughing. I actually felt really bad

Default Worst shot you've ever hit
I expect to update this thread regularly, but I thought it would be fun to catalog what we currently rank as our worst shot ever.

For me, when I was about 14-years-old, I was playing with my parents in the North Carolina mountains. I swung so far over the top of a drive, that it hit directly on the back of my club, sending the ball 90-degrees off the tee, between my legs, and nearly hitting my mother sitting in the cart.

Ah, the memories....

Worst shot I've ever hit came on the first tee of my first ever try at the Nebraska Men's Amateur tournament. The first hole was a 370 yard par four and I thought I'd play conservative and hit a 2 iron off the tee. Well I shanked it 40 yards to the right into the 18th fairway. Ended up hitting my 2nd shot like a grounder as I was trying to play a low punch between the trees, and then the rest of the hole was just a mess, ended up with a triple bogey 7. I felt like a complete idiot. In the end I shot an 82 the first day and then a 78 on the second day and missed the cut by 4 strokes.

One of the bright spots was I played with the guy who ended up winning the tournament and got to see some awesome golf first hand. He shot a 67 on the first day and a 69 the second day.

I've had so many bad ones over the years that it's hard to say which one was the worst. I did have a funny one once.....I teed off on a short-ish par 4 never thinking I'd never come close to the green with my capabilities at the time. Well, I got ahold of it good and sent the ball heading right for the group on the green. I wasn't afraid of hurting anyone but didn't want to hit close/into their group. As luck would have it, the ball begins fading and takes a huge bounce toward the group's golf carts as they are walking back to the carts and then I lost sight of it. We yell fore, just in case and a second later, the guys start cheering. We walked up there ready to apologize and they waited for us....I'm thinking "oh no". When we get up to them I ask where the ball went....one of the guys points to his ball cap hanging from his cart handle and theres my ball in his hat. We all had a laugh about it.

It's probably not the worst shot that I've ever hit, but it's one that I can remember just like it was yesterday.
My friends and I were playing 160 yard par 3 that's situated parallel to a highway that's about 30 yards to the left of the hole. The course is a wide open layout and the wind is gusting right to left pretty hard. I proceeded to hit a huge hook that ended up on the other side of the highway. I can still see that little white dimpled demon soaring off to the left. Haha!

My second day of work out here at a company scramble. I had only played once in the last 10 years. I set up on the tee on 1, and proceed to hit a low drive really solid, but pushed it and it smacked off a tree that was literally 20 feet in front of the tee box haha

A year ago I was at Bandon with my best friend. We were paired up with a very nice father and son combo. So we had me, the uber uber hacker, and 3 sticks. I had been playing like once a year in the preceding 10 years and I was definitely nervous. I swung and missed from the tees ... four separate times during that round. Those four worst shots ever ended up being a blessing in disguise. I was so embarrassed and humiliated that I dedicated myself to getting more serious about the game. I've gone from uber-hacker to mere normal hacker since then. Yeah for progress

Worst shot ever...hmmm...oh that's an easy one for me.
Early Spring about 20 years ago. Early morning tee time, wet grass everywhere, almost too wet to play.
1st hole is a shortish dogleg left that I can just about get to the green if I kill it.
I hit a hosel rocket that goes dead left at about 450 mph...right towards the 9th green where a guy is coming off of.
He is only about 30 yards away and sees the ball coming right at his head. He belly flops to keep from having his head taken off.
When he gets up, he is soaked from head to toe. I was so embarrased I tried to pay for his round as an apology, but he refused.

Managed to strike a chip shot with the back of the club. Yes, I turned my hands around 180* on the downswing and hit the ball with the back of the club. And it went to 2ft from the hole. Worst strike ever, but great result.

Mine came at a college tournament last year. I was on the 3rd tee box that was right beside the clubhouse, 440 yard up hill par 4 where you had to carry 200 yards of water to hit the fairway. All of the coaches and family members were standing there watching as I proceeded to top my tee shot straight into the drink. Luckily I re-teed and hit the next shot 275 right down the middle. So I guess I didnt look like a complete hacker. Lol

Like most, I have hit shanks, flubs, etc., on the course. But one sticks out vividly in my mind.

When I first started playing, I played a "power fade". Grip it and rip it style. There were a line of homes left on a par 5. I succesfully hit my drive, starting out over the houses and fading onto the fairway. I had the distance to reach in two. I pulled out my 4 iron, aimed left over the houses again and hit it as hard as I could. It flew off the club face like a bullet... unfortunately, it was a very high pull draw. Uhmmm... not sure what exactly it hit, but I am pretty sure it was a car parked in a driveway of the second row of houses. whoa.

once when i was younger (i think i was 13 maybe?), i was in an adjacent fairway with tall oaks seperating my hole and the following, running to the right of mine. i hit a dead shank to the right, it hit off a tree and struck a woman in a cart on the other hole. i had no idea i hit her till i went looking for my ball. i've never felt so bad on a course
