Really should start using both of these and learning to put them into the game.

I would say both. If its a really close greenside chip then I'm likely to take a 7 iron or 9 iron and make a puttin stroke. However if I'm chipping and have to get it up high and land soft or need to go over a bunker or something then it's hinge and hold all the way.

I use the hinge and hold every time. Just comfortable with it.

I used to toe up an 8i and use a puttingish stroke, but haven't done that for years. More a hinge and holder now, but I have a few other shots I just make without really thinking how. They're a little more handsy.

I usually go with the hinge and hold, though for some shots using a putting stroke seems more appropriate. I also use my 4-hybrid for shots just off the green, just using a basic putting stroke.

I am all over the place....this is the weakness in my game (other than lack of distance)....I am great with pitch shots....it's chips that kill me...I have tried them all,,,,I really need to pick one and work on it alot....I hit one fat, and one thin and then fat....I probably give up 3-5 strokes a round because I suck at chipping......now put me 20 yards out and I will drop in within 5 feet almost everytime.

I just sorta play it by feel. If I want a softer shot I will putt stroke it, but it I want more of a fast, spinning shot I hinge and hold.
