Bridgestone Ball Fitting Video
I apologize in advance for the crappy video. This was a spur of the moment decision when I got out to the course and saw that he wasn't very busy. I took this on my iphone and I have no idea how to edit it in iMovie. You might need to adjust your volume when Mike is talking for a bit.
Here are the numbers on the paper from the fitting: Hex Black: Clubhead Speed: 109.8 Ball Speed: 154.7 Launch Angle: 12.3 Backspin: 1103 Side Spin: -833 Carry: 246 I hit a little bit too much of a draw on that one but for comparison sake, I put exactly the same swing on the Bridgestone ball and it had more acceptable draw spin numbers. Bridgestone B330 Clubhead Speed: 109.8 Ball Speed: 154.8 Launch Angle: 14.0 Backspin: 1255 Side Spin: -380 Carry: 263 All in all it was pretty cool. I played the B330 this afternoon and was very happy with that ball. |
Were those numbers you typed right? I couldnt make it out on the sheet in the video. Backspin is just over 1000?
|
I had really low back spin when I was on the monitor as well. Interested to see what you have to say about that.

I'm hoping those are 21 and 22 typos for spin. I've never heard of anything that low before. The ball would probably just fall or knuckle right out of the sky.

Yeah...
http://img.tapatalk.com/a689581e-3735-b58b.jpg I need to go again and see if it was the machine or my swing since that was in the thick of my driver swing issues a few months ago.. I hit hybrids on the machine and was seeing spin around 3500 so I'm assuming it measures it correctly. P.S. sorry for thread jack, I can move this somewhere else |
You need to have them look at that again. Seeing backspin of 36 (usually a topped ball) and even 550 means something is not accurate. Now keep in mind, that is a simulator and not a launch monitor, but something is still a little off.
|
I will go in this week and get it measured again, it did seem odd.
|
The numbers are correct. Those are the back spin numbers the launch monitor gave me.
This gives me my only gripe about the system. It would have been much better to not have to hit into the net. That way we could have seen actual ball flight to see if they were usable drives. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |

Im just curious if you have ever been fit for your clubs? You have to be leaving a ton of carry distance on the table. |

Perhaps also of note - I was hitting the shots totally cold. Walked on to the range and maybe warmed up with 5 or 6 range balls. Then hit only two shots with the hex black and two with the B330 so it is certainly possible that the numbers are off a bit. Given that we were going to to the little video, I didn't want to take up too much of their time. Based on the performance of the ball in the afternoon round, I will say that I was very impressed with the B330. It has really nice feel and I was getting some great drives with it as well as some nice approach and greenside action. |

Not to thread jack. He said the B330 was the softer ball. Is this just in comparrison to the hex black or is the RX higher compression than the b330. I thought it was the other way around.

In all honesty, I have never understood the fascination with seeing one's ball flight. Maybe its just me, but I have yet to find a golfer that with their driver could not tell if they hit it well or not. I guess everybody is different. |
