Default World Am Tournament in Myrtle Beach
Anyone going this year?..I went for several years ('08, '09 and '10)..Main reason I stopped going was the pace of play..My last round in '10 was well over 6 hours..3 1/2 hours to play the first nine..Crazy.. And the heat and rain were no fun either..Just wondering if anyone is going or has gone in the past...

I used to go to this every year when I was younger. I stopped going , but play golf regularly with 3 guys who would go every year but stopped because the sandbagging has become rampant they say. That is why I never play handicapped tournaments.

looks like it would be a good time to just try it out once, knowing that with 3,000 people there are gonna be some "cheaters" in the mix

Unfortunately, it seems impossible to avoid sandbagging at these types of events. They are fun to play in, but there's really no shot at winning unless you cheat your arse off.

I played in this thing about 6 or 7 times. When I first started going, it was much better than what it is now. The sandbagging is awful. You don't get anywhere near what you used to get for the same money. The pace of play was bad, but I can deal with that. Until I start hearing that it's getting better, I'm not playing in it again. It's just not worth it anymore.

Early registration was about about $450 for past participants, $500 early registration and about $550 regular ....The gift bags were better years ago, and the nightly 19th hole at the Convention Center can be a zoo..It's free entertainment, food, booze, beer and desserts, with all the big vendors and manufacturers on site..I understand they've cut that down to just a few hours a night..And you guys are right, the sandbagging is out of control with very little effort to control it...I may return in the future...
