Great day in a Stableford!

Played in an NCGA Stableford event today at Bayonet Golf Course on the Monterey Peninsula. This was the first time I've played in a Stableford scored event. We were awarded points as follows:

Net Par: 2 points.
Net Birdie: 3 points.
Net Eagle: 5 points.

I started crappy, getting only 2 points on the first 3 holes going Bogey, Trpl Bogey, Bogey with the 3rd being a hole that I got no strokes on.

After that, I hit settled in and hit 11 of the remaining 15 greens shooting 44/40 for an 84 and totalled 38 Stableford points, enough for second place out of a field of 56.

Played the entire round with 1 Hex Black.

Great Job ! 38 points is a tough score -- we always have a (-1) points for double bogey and above in stableford events around here...

I think they avoided the negative points because this event was net score and included a lot of high handicappers. One of the guys I played with would have had quite a negative score.

Very nice score! That's tough to beat after 18 holes.

Our leagues playing one right now, and scoring is a little different as we only award 4 pts for Eagles.

I've shot a 39/38/36 so far for a whopping 16/17/19 = 52pts. Yep, you def. would be winning our event.

One thing I really like about the Stableford format is that it forces you to be aggressive, especially on the greens. When you are faced with a 5 footer for par and a bogey is nothing or a negative, you approach the putt a little differently and for me, being aggressive on those putts actually helps to sink them.
