I went last year and it was impossible to follow a group shot for shot, just too many people and that was with no tiger... so I don't believe it really matters. Should be good tv.

I don't think Tiger will pay the least amount of attention what those other two are doing. But I doubt they will be LTAO over Tiger. Bubba's been distracted since the Masters and has no chance on an Open course anyway. And if anybody melts down it could be Phil.

They all throw clubs, or slam them down. I don't understand why it's always pointed out that Tiger does it.

US Open pairings
 

What say you about the starpower pairings in this week's US Open? They have Tiger, Phil and Bubba together and Westwood, Donald and McIlroy.

I think it stinks on many levels. It will be very distracting for the players and unwatchable for the fans. The only way to see any of them will be to pick a spot and wait for them to play through. Anybody following them will be wasting their time.

I am w/ you. IIRC one of those days it is a 4:30 or so West coast start, so it will be on Prime Time.

I assume a meltdown is hitting poor shots and playing yourself past the cut line.

Tiger has always thrown clubs. He just never did it as much when he was dominating, and certainly never did what he did at 16 at the Masters before. You won't see that again.

The US Open is not a PGA event. Cell phones are prohibited at USGA events.

I still think the starpower groupings will be a major distraction, with excessive gallery movement.

McIlroy did it yesterday when he hit the shot on 18 that cost him a chance to win the tournament.

It's probably more likely that a Tiger or McIlroy will do it because of their standard of expectations.
