My shots don't look like the one he does.
I saw a thing on the golf channel and he has a grinder in his home where he grinds the sole right off of the wedge. I have a 60 degree wedge with about "8" bounce, which isn't a lot, and I rarely try it out of a tight, hard lie. Even when I practice it, most of the time I thin it.

I definitely blade it here and there, but I'm usually pretty solid with it.

I kind of have a goofy bag with only one wood, driving iron, 4-9, PW, GW, SW, 60, and 64.

One shot is hit where intended, then rolls 90 feet and goes in a 4.25 inch diameter cup. The other shot is hit where intended.

One thing is not like the other.
one shot was hit straight to where it was intended, with a low trajectory, its inherent that it will roll and you plan for that and his ended much better than intended. the other, hit in the direction he hoped it would go and ended up much better than intended. if one was luck so was the other.

Strange logic. But it's not the first time you were wrong, I'm sure.

That's not what I do with my clubs. Maybe it's a Midwest thing.

personally I think it would be much easier with a 64 degree wedge than it is with my 9 or pitching wedge.

and fuck you, you fucking golf snob.
haha, you should demo one next time you play and see how cleanly you pick it off the ground.

haha, compare me a normal weekend golfer guy to someone that probably swings 500 or more times per day for the last 25 years. good comparison, haha.

haha, no one else in the tournament would have even thought of that shot. taking a full swing in that situation is something only phil can do. there are so many things that can go wrong with that shot and phil does it like it's a simple golf shot. haha, it's not that great of a shot though. haha.

I don't think I've ever seen anybody else even attempt it, and I watch golf every weekend.
in the situation he was in, it was unnecessary IMO.

its something that only he does, not necessarily something NO ONE else can do. the degree of difficulty compared to hitting a runner is insane, I blade them all the time. its a good shot for him.

It's easy to say the guy who won had the bigger shot, especially when that shot was made to essentially win the tournament. However, if Oosty hadn't made his crazy double eagle then there is a good chance they weren't even playing at the time.
Absolutely. I think it is an extremely close call as to which was bigger.

I just think it is funny that only one person went with Oost's and it is fahvra. Always the opposite.

Anyone who goes long and right of the pinn on Saturday, with the usual hole position on the left, cannot put in near the hole. It's a horrible pin to shoot at from that location. The few I saw on saturday who ending up in phils location were hard pressed to keep it on the green. So yes, if that shot is in your wheelhouse, you use it there.
Id have to watch a few guys on the hole to really give my opinion, unfortunately for me, the opportunity to sit around watching golf for 12 hours isnt in my wheelhouse.

Not for him. It is his comfort zone. And I don't think he could have gotten it any closer with a bump and run. In fact, nobody was getting it close from back there.

For me, rust shows with the lob wedge. I played a relatively decent first round this with the driver and my other irons the other day, but hit the ball in the forehead 3/4 times with the wedge. Not great for the score when a shot meant to go 65-70 yds. to the green goes 100 over it.
