I often have trouble figuring what club to hit. I'm sure I'm not the only one. There are several clubs I'm pretty dead on with. I'm trying to figure how much distance to add or take away per club. I hit my 4i 180, 7i 150, and aw 110. What would u say I should expect distance gaps to be on other clubs. I only listed the above clubs b/c I'm very sure of those distances. Btw, I'm swinging burner 2.0's if that makes a difference. Thanks.

It sounds like than within your set you are getting between 13-15 yard gaps between your clubs with the smaller gap between the shorter irons. Its not perfect but should give you a good idea what you hit each club. Personally I prefer to have my gaps get narrower in my wedges (in the 10-13 yard range), and then on the upper end have the gaps get a little wider.

that sounds pretty similar to what I hit my clubs. I usually have about a 10 yard gap in between each club on a regular swing but I can usually go up or down 10 yards depending how hard I swing. For example I hit my average 7 iron around 150 but I have hit it 160ish right to the middle of a green and I've hit it 140ish right onto a green as well with calm conditions and no altitude changes

I would say you need to find a range that has yardage markers. Ideally, you'll be able to fit roughly 10 balls per club, with your regular swing and then average out the distances.
This is ideal of course. I was able to do this last year and started seeing about 5-7 shots drop on average per round, just by being more sure of my distances. |
