Well maybe not all, but dang close. Well since I now work at a golf store I was able to get a TMAG account from Taylormade and take advantage of some serious discounts. Last week I received some clubs that have been missing from my bag for quite some time.
First, I got the 19* Raylor hybrid. I always liked the look and how it felt hitting indoors but I have been blown away with the performance on the course. I have never had a hybrid before because I was stubborn but I am so glad I finally gave in. The club head is nice and small and the bottom of the club is shaped like a ships hull so it is very easy to get out of the rough. I was a little nervous about how it was going to perform out of the fairway and off the tee but once again it delivered. I can't believe how easy this thing is to hit. I am having no problem taking this club 220-235 which is a lot because I'm not really a bomber. Long and easy to hit is how I would describe this club. Definitely something i would recommend trying if you're in the market for a hybrid. The next club I got was the 15* R9 3-wood and I have been equally impressed. I haven't carried any woods in my bag except a driver for about 2-3 years now because I could never hit it consistently and couldn't get it up in the air very well. I decided to take another chance and I am very happy with the switch. First off, being able to change the angle of the face is pretty helpful. I'm playing with it at neutral right now but have messed around with the open and closed and its neat to see the differences in ball flight. What has really helped me over the last week is that fact that I am able to take this off the tee 4-5 times at my course on shorter, tighter par 4's. No problem taking this thing 240-250. What I find amazing is that I usually hit my driver 250-260 on average. This really allows me to keep the driver in my bag a little more and have a better chance of playing from the fairway. Not that I don't like my driver because I love it but I can be much more accurate with the 3-wood. Then, yeststerday, The R9 tp irons arrived. I've been hitting a tp 6 iron for about the last two weeks and is about the best feeling club I've ever hit. Accurate, forgiving, and a great ball flight. I've been playing these MP-60's for about a month now and have to say blades just aren't for me. They are awesome when you hit them perfect but the consistency is not there for me. These clubs should give me just that. Let's just hope I hit the rest of the set as well as the 6-iron. I ordered the 4-A set and now I have to decide between which club to keep, the 51* tp gap wedge or the 52* Vokey. I've always been a big wedge guy so i'd imagine I'll keep the vokey but it will be interesting to see how they perform side by side measuring distance, accuracy and feel. Next on the list is an XFT wedge that should be here next week. |
