Initially, at the start of the season, I have to concentrate on keeping my legs quiet and in an athletic stance. I have a tendency to straighten my right leg on the takeaway and then have to lunge back down at the ball.
But my basic swing thought is to bring my left shoulder to my chin. It promotes a nice upper torso turn and keeps my swing on a relatively flat, one-piece plane. |

My short game sucks. Obviously this time of year that is understandable, I've played 5 times all year, but I'm hitting the ball surprisingly well. But on Wed in 9 holes I missed 2 3-4 footers and should have missed a 3rd. Yesterday I couldn't hit the ball, and was also blading chips and short pitches. My putts weren't near the hole and when they were they wouldn't go in. What a game golf is. |

Well, the course was open, but it shouldn't have been.
Some of the greens were closed, one had the flag on the side of the hill approaching the green, I'm not even going to try and putt in thick rough on a hillside.. On some holes you teed off mats sitting on the cart path. They're doing some major landscapping, several areas had large mounds of dirt , some right in the middle of the fairway. And the course smelled like rotting vegetation. Other than that, I actually struck the ball well. A couple of times I did my outside in swing, the ball goes really far, but nowhere close to the target. But hey, it's still golf. |

Creeksbend in New Prague. We bought a couples membership, cost $1K for the year plus they let us golf the rest of last seaon at no charge. |

Nice. I saw that one was open. I've only been down there once, but I did get a pass that includes 5 rounds there for this year. So we'll definitely be down there a couple times this year. |

Let me know whe you plan on going, I''ll let you know the condition of the course. FYI, the course tends to play slow, we usually go in the late afternoon when there's just barely time to get in 18 holes, most of the slow players are off the course by then. If you only have a twosome, I'm willing to show you how bad I play. |

The #1 swing thought I have, especially for irons, is "keep the weight on the instep of my right foot" (I'm right handed). Where I get in trouble is when my weight shifts to the outside of my right foot on the backswing, causing me to sway. This was the best lesson tip I've ever learned and I would strongly recommend it.
