Default My 2012 Golf Mission Statement
I thought I would create this thread for my upcoming golf year 2012. I will post updates and progress and some information of courses and highlights through the year.

Golf background :
Up until a couple of years ago I have only ever been an occasional golfer, the odd golf outing here and there. So during these occasional rounds of golf, three figures was the norm and some regular golfing friends took delight in my on course, scoring meltdowns. I would occasionally drop into the 90's and those were good days.
Played a lot of football(soccer) in my early teens and then played field hockey until my late 20's, I've been better than average at most sports but never a stand out. My circumstances changed and I found myself with a lot more time on my hands and I was looking for a distraction. Then I had a round of 83 on a course I had only ever hit mid-high 90's on, that was the turning point.

2010 - Playing Wilson Deep Red 2 irons 3-PW, purchased the local council golf ticket which allowed me to play the two local courses all year. By the end of the year I would say I had a regular playing handicap of 15-18.
Low rounds were a 78(+12) on the Buddon at Carnoustie
80(+12) at the local council course, Caird Park

As the scores were dropping I bit the bullet and upgraded my clubs to my current WITB at the start of the year
2011 - Playing second year on the ticket and I have been monitoring my scores online, it has my current playing handicap at 11. I would say I'm regularly playing 12-15 at the moment as the winter sets in.
Low rounds this year were a 77(+8) at Ballumbie, on my birthday and out with close friends, couldn't write that kind of thing.
78(+9) at Caird Park
Special mention for my 81(+10) at Camperdown, this is a narrow tree lined course and my previous best was an 89. I was so happy as the course was winning the psychological battle until then, even better that I was playing with the guys that had been laughing only a couple of years earlier.

2012 - I have already cancelled my council ticket. I have joined the Grange Golf Club in Monifieth and I will be playing regularly in 2012 on my way hopefully to getting my first official CONGU handicap, the target being a single figure of 9 by the end of the year.
