Houses on the course - Trump Style

You ever worry about hitting a house that lines a fairway on your course?

Here's one I wouldn't want to hit. It's on the Trump International course in Charlotte, NC. My buddy played there on Friday.

Super nice house, but I never worry about hitting them. They built it there, so it comes with the territory.

DINAKuncher 08-19-2012 07:26 PM

Wow....I couldn't afford to go breaking anything there...http://www.thehackersparadise.com/fo...es/biggrin.png

Yep, you don't want golf balls in your back yard....don't live on a golf course...LOL

I like the ones that embrace it...there is a course in a suburb of Houston that I play 3-4 times a year that has houses on almost every fairway on one side or the other....a couple of them have boxes hanging from their fence full of balls and a lock box attached for money and a sign that says "used balls $1 each"...one of my buddies stops at each of them and digs out all the ProV's

I actually had this conversation with SMG during our round yesterday. Lots of really nice houses on the course, but a lot of them were really close to landing areas on par 4s and par 5s. I would never want to have a house in that location, especially with little kids. I'd never let my daughter outside if my house was in the danger zone of errant tee shots.

There is one house at St. Marlo that is both fantastic and in a great position. It's on the 7th hole (par 3) for those who have played there. (Did not take a picture, but should have.) The house sits behind the green about 30-40 yards behind the green and it uphill from the green. I'm sure that house has fantastic views of the 6th green and 7th hole, but the house is far enough removed from the course that errant shots shouldn't be an issue.

I have hit houses, cars, animals, golf bag. Hit a kid last year and almost killed War Eagle this year at the Morgan cup.

So really what I'm saying is im not worried about hitting things im actually USED to hitting things. Except fairways and greens for some reason.

If they don't want to be hit, they should put up a net across the backyard. I've hit a couple of houses but always felt bad about it.

ancexttew 08-19-2012 09:53 PM

looks more like a clubhouse than an actual house. wow i need to stop buying putters so i can afford a place like that someday!

masterboyz 08-19-2012 09:55 PM

I've hit some houses. Never feel good about it. But if you put your house on a semi public golf course what do you think is going to happen.

I have been yelled at as well because of it, my answer is always the same thing, you live on a semi public golf course.

"off the house and in the fairway....nice shot"!

I would laugh if I hit a house. Looks like one of the windows on that pic is boarded up hahaha.

I was playing with my brother in law and his friend year back when he hit a driver over a house and we heard it hit something. We couldn't put our finger on the noise until the owner came out yelling that we hit his car. I couldn't believe it

As a newbie is just gotta ask....

If you hit a house/car/kid, are you responsible??

yes you are responsible for your ball at all times. at least in PA. some courses have signs up near roads and such reminding you of this. nothing like a sign getting in your head right before you tee off next to a highway that runs the length of a par 5.

You are in most the states I've played in. I have mixed feelings about it evade if you build a house on a golf course you know the risks of your house getting hit.
