I work in Newburgh...just up the road from West Point and around the corner from Camp Smith which is where my guard unit drills.
The West Point WMR is decent. Are you looking for public or Private courses?

Note: my post will be useless to you , but, anyway .......
I grew up just across the river and south a few miles) in Peekskill, NY. But that was so long ago that my info probably won't help. I do remember playing the course at West Point, and Storm King, too, very near there. Fun and very hilly!
Across the river (east) is Garrison Golf Club. Nice layout and very ritzy and well-maintained in my day. They actually had caddies and I was one of 'em for awhile. Also, little Highlands Country Club, a short but fun nine-holer.
Further away is Westchester CC. I've played it many times and, of course, you can see that one on TV!
I guess the reason for this post is to ask you if you would post your impressions if/when you play any of these courses I played decades ago. I've lived in Africa, Europe, Central American, and even Texas since I left NY .... just never seem to get back up there!

Public courses are probably better...not sure that I will join any particular club or not yet. The West Point Course looks great! Not used to courses being closed for the winter yet.
