Thank you all for your empathy. As for the customer service, they went from $38 a round w/cart to advertised golfnow specials of $16(cart fee only!) for the walk-ons! The same rate I would pay for a round! C'est la vie. Quote:

Quit my membership today...
Tired of poor course conditions. Tired of poor management. Tired of the variety of uninvited people(trespassers & homeowners sneaking practice) on the course. Tired after almost 17 years of playing there & 3 memberships. When I first played there, it was my treat-a high end round of $46! Back when the muni's were brown, except for the waist high weeds between holes. The greens were pure & the best in the city. True rolling bent grass that invited every shot from the spindly fairways. A semi-private course that felt under-priced to this walk in player. I will miss the wild life, too. Snakes & a few Red foxes showed up in most rounds; reminding me that I am never really alone. Many of my better friends have long ago given up on the course; including some who still live on the course!
The last straw was a snafu with a gift certificate I won. Unable to apply it to my dues, I used it for food & carts. I thought I did. I apparently did not use the correct wording when attempting to use the credit. I asked after most purchases, how much do I have left. Never realizing I was tallying both charges to my "account" & against my "credit account." Only finding out after I doubled my monthly bill. Should I be better about keeping my account? Yes. Did I know or was I told to specifically request charges to my "credit account" instead of my regular account? No, never. I had rarely, if ever, charged anything to my account in all these years. A sad way to end a place that I really learned to play & enjoy golf. https://twitter.com/Dance_Business/s.../photo/1/large https://twitter.com/Dance_Business/s...193152/photo/1 https://twitter.com/Dance_Business/s...771264/photo/1 https://twitter.com/Dance_Business/s...771264/photo/1 https://twitter.com/Dance_Business/s...193152/photo/1 https://twitter.com/Dance_Business/s.../photo/1/large |
Sorry to hear that buddy.. it's hard to find a place worth having a membership to.
|
That's too bad but I guess it was for the better, those don't exactly look like the best conditions..
|
That's rough. Always difficult to break up with your first love.

Sounds t me like the mix-up on the certificate was an easy fix by management, doesn't seem like they are in the right line of work to me. What ever happened to the concept of keeping the customer happy?
|
sorry to hear it didnt work out for you and that they werent at least willing to help u out with the account
|
I have to say, the account thing really sucks. I can't imagine it would be that difficult for them to say "oh, were sorry, we'll just pay your regular account with your gift certificate."
I guess you can look at it in a new way, now you get to play multiple courses until you find one you want to be a member on. ~Rock |
That stinks that you had to resign from your club, but sounds like you made the right call.
|
for someone who's been playing there that many years, management really boned up and should've taken care of you. there is ALWAYS another course waiting to welcome you into their membership...good riddance to the old, welcome the new!

That green & fairway look terrible. You made the right call...
|
That is super sad. From the looks of the houses on the course, I would expect it to be in much better shape. Too bad it's gone downhill.

I have a membership at a local 9 hole course that doesn't have fairway irrigation and the conditions as can be expected, get pretty bad my late August in CT. They water the greens and tees frequently, but everything else is just terrible. It is very inexpensive (less than $400/year for me and my sons) and it gives them a place they can learn the game and get some experience before going to a tougher course.
Surprisingly, it has helped my game. the bad lies and small hard greens have made me a better player as when I play courses with such amenities as grass and big, soft fast greens, I generally play great on them. |
Feel your pain, now your free to play elsewhere.
Just need to work on getting you free on fridays so we can take advantage of the golfnow discounts lol |
That course looks worse than someof the public courses here in NJ. Due to drops in memberships, most clubs are trying to cut back and nickel and dime the members. Not the smartest ideas in these economic conditions.
|
Simple fix, move to Virginia Beach, find BogeyRuss, join his club and that way you know you'll never have a problem since a fellow THPer will take car of you haha
|
I feel ya. My membership is up in August and I'll be moving on to another club in town. Hopefully the grass is greener on the other side.
