Default Cheating by cops?!
So I play in a Monday night league and we were facing 2 officers and the A player who I was playing was having a bad round and I was kicking his butt hard. We get to the last hole he hits a slice and it ends up under some low hanging limbs his partner takes it upon himself to move the branches and leaves out of the way and hold it back so he had a shot. I said something and he tried to play it off like he was just playing around. Well with the branches on the way he tops his shot OB and concedes the hole. I don't get why people have to do this it isn't the first time we have had people improve their lie just wish people would play the game the way it is supposed to be played! I beat him 6 to 3 so that made me happy.

What does being a cop have to do with a player cheating?

If it was the last hole, wasn't it already over or do you mean the hole you ended up beating him on?

I think that's just an added detail, what they were doing was wrong no matter what they do for a living. My guess would be we all hold some public/civil people up to a higher standard, but that just means they'll let us down even more!!!

I really dunno why he's a cop makes a difference and if he conceded the hole and you won dunno why it's even a big deal. People cheat or aren't aware of all the rules of golf. It happens everywhere.

They may not have even known it was against the rules. Then when you called them on it they were embarrassed and tried to play it off to save face. Then again, maybe they just wanted to cheat a little.

It's wrong and him being an officer is irrelevant.

He must be a crooked cop!
That's just funny!

You could tell they knew what they were doing. And yeah I guess I do hold them to a higher standard but still cheating is stupid and pisses me off. He had not conceded the hole yet before the shot and the league is a point per hole league not straight match play. So by his partner assisting him he could have hit a good shot and won the hole.

Kind of an unfortunate title for the thread, it really makes us focus on the irrelevant fact they were police officers.

Hey, I'm an ex-cop and although I can appreciate people saying that it doesn't matter what they do for a living, I can also understand it increasing one's disappointment.

Worst cheating cop at golf I know was a guy who put Vaseline on his club faces. Found it by accident on his clubs, then now looking for it, I caught him applying it to a club.

Pathetic and yes, I ripped into him really good (money match).

Seems like it would make it easier to get into the hole.

Maybe the club "faces" were dry and flaky... The Vaseline was a moisturizer

Vaseline or chapstick cuts down the amount of spin off the driver. It is supposed to significantly cut down a hook or a slice. It's an old gamblers trick. The downside is it cuts down on distance as well.
