OMG don't even get me started on the Georgia gnats. Just a few miles south of Warner Robins is the 'gnat line'. It's AWFUL!
This last weekend in Hawkinsville, I almost lost my mind because I just couldn't focus on a swing with them buzzing in my ears and flying up my nose. They are immune to OFF, too. I was told to put dryer sheets in my hat next time. Weird.
I used to live in Warner Robins about 7 years ago, and now I think gnats are the most annoying things on the planet, they were EVERYWHERE

I had the dubious honor of whacking a crane (a real big one) last year playing Dye's Valley. Teeing off, I dead pulled one right at the bird. It didn't even flinch, all you heard was this awful THUD! sound. The ball actually ricocheted back into the fairway. The bird seemed unharmed, and I was laughing so hard for the rest of the hole that I think I triple bogeyed it.

But we still have the memories....

Do the dryer sheets work? I put plugs in my ears. Not earplugs, actually the round end of golf tees. It didn't bother me but I did get some funny looks from my buddies. I really like the course there (Veterans at Lake Blackshear) but hate the gnats.

I haven't ever hit any animals on the course but my buddy did about a month ago. First hole, par 4. He hits his tee shot to right of fairway, just under some trees. We get to his ball and there are about 6 ducks probably 30 yards in front of us under some other trees. He's got about 150 to the green and is trying to get over the trees but his line is right over the ducks as well.
Hits a worm burner that nails one of the ducks right in the side. It starts squawking and flapping around, limping out into the fairway. Wouldn't let us get close to it so don't know how bad it was.
We both felt terrible about it....

the gnats have been terrible around here for the last couple of weeks. We've tried dryer sheets (tried them in high school for baseball to), they help, but not a lot (instead of two dozen gnats buzzing around you, there's one dozen). as some else mentioned those dang pests are immune to off, they're ridiculous. as soon as you stopp the cart there are hundreds of them every-bleepin'-where. I'd rather play in rain and cold wind than with gnats. hell i'd rather play in snow

A bit over a month ago I went out with my brother. Hole #1 I was around 205-210 out and a bunch of geese would not move. Hit a TM 3hybrid about a foot off the ground and nailed one of the geese in the head. That sucker flat dropped to the ground and the other 50 or so geese went crazy. It started to flop a bit when we were going to my ball that went way left off the goose's head. Hit that shot, looked back and that sucker started to walk. Could not believe it was alive. Damn geese are freaking everywhere and come hunting season my 12 gauge and my buddies lay into them.

I once hit a 3 wood on a par 5 RIGHT as a group of ducks flew up.

I hit one, everybody starts laughing...until we get up to the duck.

Poor guy was walking in circles, all his friends flew away and he's obviously really injured. I immediately feel like crap, saying "what should I do?".

My one buddy was like, "kill it dude. put it out of its misery"...but I just couldn't do it. I left him there, hoping he was ok and kept going.

On a brighter note, if you've ever been to Spyglass' driving range...there are deer all over the place. I hit one square in the head with a 4-iron and he never moved, just kept grazing.

Not with a shot but with my feet, I was playing an old links course up in Scotland (forfar or montrose I think) anyhow its bucketing down with rain and a strong breeze is blowing, also had a box of wine the night before so feeling a touch fragile,so I get into the car park and the guys are walking over to the tee box,I get ready asap and think I'll don the waterproofs later.I get to the tee box to tee off last and to my surprise hit a cracker down the middle, feeling smug I walk off only to hear crunch crunch crunch,I look down and there are hundreds of tiny frogs on the tee box which is located near a small pond! Man I felt turd after that.

On a separate note my brother managed to completely disintegrate a pigeon with a drive,is only good drive of the day to.

Like many others, geese are a bit of a problem in my area. Hit one in the rear a couple of years ago with a worm burner. Don't think that poor guy ever walked (or waddled) normally ever again. Earlier this year, a bunch of geese were hanging out on the green of a par 3. Hit one in the back with a high wedge shot. Don't think I hurt him, but the ball proceeded to bounce into a sand trap! http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/banghead.gif

Just last Sunday I was walking my pushcart down the cart path and a mouse ran out right in front of the tire. SQUISH!
