I'll be playing all holes from the senior tee's. Howzat I get what your saying but I have only played 2 rounds and 3 range sessions with the Razr X Blacks so one of my reasons for doing this is get more comfortable with them.
I think it's a fun idea. Luckily I have an 18 hole par 3 course here. It ranges from 116 yard holes to 225 yard holes. Won't the par 3's be wicked short from those tees?

Or just play everything from the whites. a 600 yd par 4 is still hybrid hybrid and a third club.
Do you move up to like the Senior tees or something? Maybe play the par 5's from the Seniors, the par 3's from the tips and the par 4's from the white's. If I played my regular course from the tips (like I normally do) with irons only, there would be holes where I couldn't even reach the fairway.

I think this would be the way to do it.

Here it what the scorecard looks like. Normally the yellows are in play for mid week golf but there wouldn't be any problem playing the par 3's from the whites

I'd play them all from the whites basing off of those numbers.

I actually played mine from the blues......but we don't have instances where there is a really long carry to the fairway. I had to layup to water where I usually go over but main difference was hitting a 5i from the FW instead of a really short iron.

That's pretty cool dude. I like how you did that up. I'm not sure it'd change the way I managed a course either. Just seems like it really helps you get comfortable with the irons.

Well today was definitely a tale of two 9's. The front 9 I used my Razr X Black 5 iron off every tee and on the back 9 I used my Razr X 3 hybrid. After the front 9 I taught to myself here we go it has finally clicked. 2 over at the turn and very happy with how I was playing, I even taught here we go I could break 80 for the first time here. Needless to say the back 9 was sole distroying 4 over thru 10 and 11. Managed to get things back on track a bit but not enough to save my chances at 80.

The greens had been sanded and brushed just as we arrived at the course but that's not really an excuse for having 34 putts in a round.

All in all the "iron only" round was fun, it made me choose shots I normally wouldn't think about. As in on par 5's and 4's I was thinking more about my second shots needing to be full shots to get my to the green. I feel i'm a lot more comfortable with my irons now. Has my course management changed ?? not a whole pile but I found myself thinking more about my position off the tee so I had the shortest line to the green, something again I wouldn't think aboout when playing my woods.

Here is what my card looks like:

Nice update David! For me, it definitely helped to approach course management in a different way when I realized just how there was no need to hit driver on so many holes. Glad that you got to give it a try and spend a bit more time with some of the longer irons.
