concentration..

Was wondering do other people find them selves suddenly losing concentration?.. I was really trying to focus on routine today and it was going great.. Was 2 over after 15 with an eagle I may add :).. But it was slow and I stepped up on 16th (par3) underclubbed into the wind and was just short.. Then on the walk up I just lost it didn't want to be on the course was suddenly tired angry and hungry.. Bogied that hole an ten finished with two doubles... Really frustrating as the 17 th was a birdie chance and had a chance at level par.. This happens me from time to time was wondering does it happen to anyone else?

Yup happens to me too. +4 or so after 14 and I just lose it. I find if I have food and Gatorade or stay hydrated my mind stays concentrated and I can keep playing. That's the key for me. Stay energized and hydrated

Yeah I always mean to bring food but forget.. Didn't help that it was taking up to half an hour play each hole.. Stupid societies haha

I carry Clif ShotBlocs, a Powerbar protein bar and lots of H2O/gatorade

This happens to me ever so often. I can have a really good round going, then once I have a mis-hit, I'm done for.

Rx-Ultram 06-25-2012 05:17 AM

I have a few brain farts and and mis hit it then i snap out of it and the next shot is usually good. It always happens after a long wait

Indoendris 06-25-2012 05:19 AM

I find myself loosing concentration and that generally means I need to eat and drink more water. While I can get frustrated and loose focus I can generally bring it together for the shot. When dehydrated I don't have a chance on focusing.

Yeah I tend to lose concentration both after a blow up hole and after a perfect shot. For example I hit a beautiful 5 hybrid shot into a par 3 green and I made it into the green but I lost concentration and had to 3 putt in!!!! I hate losing concetration.

I try to stick to my routine and breath smoothly. Remember a couple key points during your pre-shot routine and that's it. Food and drink help but, for me, never more than 1 beer per nine. EVER.

Paiblyelaxy 06-27-2012 10:49 PM

I don't drink at all unless it's fun with friends, I find that after just one beer my concentration really drops and one poor shot leads to another until frustration sets in.

colmedindustry 06-27-2012 10:50 PM

Concentration-never fails. What did you say?

neguoogleX 06-28-2012 12:22 AM

Haha, ya got me. On a serious note, yes all the time. Started taking Advocare Rehydrate Gel ( when I can remember it) and have noticed it helps. Really slow play and the Texas heat can always rev up the frustration meter no matter how well hydrated or how many Snickers I eat.

+1 to this... energy level is best kept up by some protein source consistently through the round and hydration (trail mix or protein bars is what I usually use). It sucks to hit the wall and harder to identify it other than lack of concentration and then hunger... (unlike on a bike or running where you simply bonk.)

Best thing I do is to go out early and play by yourself before anyone else gets on the course. I did it for 2 days a few weeks back and it not only relaxes you, it helps you get in your routine and get reps in doing it. Before you know it, you get great rounds going and close a few of them. It also relaxes you. Very peaceful and non-chaotic.

Scores go up when you think you really need to close out a round? I find I play my best when I'm with someone having fun and thinking about something other than my score. WhenI start thinking score my game goes right to heck (not like it isn't already there.)and I start doing an even worse thing which is thinking about what I did in my swing to hit the ball like I did.
Strangely enough Dr. Bob says the same thing. no fixing or adjusting (kind of a "run what you brung' ) and focus on Target and routine. If you aren't feeling it during your routine, step out, focus on target, routine and go, or step out and start again.

Closed out good today 2 over on my last 7 holes. Didnt forget my snickers or spark either. Front nine was a little rough though.
