Default GolfNow.com Sued for 100 Million
An article in the Orlando Sentinel reports the GolfNow website is being sued for $100 million for cybertheft of EZLinks tee time reservation software. GolfNow denies wrongdoing.

Not sure how this will play out but it just goes to show how software development can be very proprietary.

Damn it! Just a few weeks ago I got the frequent player rewards program where they don't charge me fees to book, haha. Hopefully this case is drawn out through this year so I can continue booking through them.

I've used both websites, and they are quite different from the consumer side.

GolfNow thru THP is the way to go. I hope this lawsuit does not mess up the great deals thru GolfNow.

Does it help THP if I book through them? Also how does golf now even work? You just book a round and it shows up as booked on the courses computer? I am always scared I'm going to book a round, show up, and them not having me booked.

You book (at a pretty well discounted rate), receive email confirmation (and the ability to print the confirmation out), show up, and play.

Depending on the course, you may pay the greens fees while booking, but most of the time you back at the course.

Yes. You'll either pay a small fee when you book or pay the whole cost if it is a hot deal time, those are indicated by a little flame icon on the tee time details. You'll get a confirmation email from golfnow and most times the courses time system will email you as well.

I'm sure this is going to be long and drawn out, it will be interesting to see what happens.

I thought GolfNow was originally Last Minute Golfer which I believe was around before EZ. Interested to read more details behind the lawsuit.

I wouldn't worry too much about Golfnow going anywhere. If the lawsuit has merit --- and I have no idea if it does or not -- then the worst case scenario is probably that EZ links will end up owning Golfnow.

http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/...annel-software

Looks like a former EZ links employee hacked into their database thru his own and golfnow PC. That's not good. The defendant will be Comcast so they'll probably settle before a trial.

Oooh, hacked the firewall....that's really no good. If ezlinks can claim popriatary ownership of the software, they gonna get paid. Golf now is definitely in the black, so it would behove them to pay out if it's true, and considering settling out would prolly knock a 0 out of that number, it's a big deal. If it goes to trial, 100 mil could get bigger with fees and lawyer costs soaring in litigation.
