Default Dented new R11...I need your help!!
This is my first post! Unfortunately, it is not a good one to have to write. I bought a brand new TM R11 Last week. Been to the range a few times with it but no rounds yet. Went to the range today. I was working on improving my grip and got way under the ball and dented the head. The dent is about the size of a dime about 1/4 of an inch away from the toe, on top of the head. There is a slightly raised portion of metal in the dent, but doesn't look separated like a crack. I would post pictures, but can't until I post 10 times. I misplaced my Golfsmith receipt in the trash a few days ago. Let me know what you think!

Thanks guys!

I don't know to what extent Taylormade would help you but it's worth a try calling them and asking them or even going to golfsmith, I'm pretty sure they could pull up your receipt by using your credit card number-that is if you used one-

Since you bought it at an authorized retailer, I would contact TaylorMade directly and explain what happened. Their customer service is quite good on the phone and they will let you know what the easiest way to go about this would be.

First off, welcome to THP!

Second I would return it to the store you purchased it or call TM.

I have also had really good experiences with Taylormade's customer service. I would call them, I knew a guy recently who broke his R11 from normal use and they sent him a brand new R11s

I just hope they don't say it was user malfunction or something

That's a tough one, but hopefully contacting TaylorMade or the retailer you bought it from can get you going in the right direction for a repair or replacement. Im interested in seeing the pics.

I've always received great service from Golfsmith. Like others said if you paid by credit card go back to the store and speak with the manager. I've gotten some GREAT deals just by talking to the manager (extra % off items and labor). As a last resort you could contact TaylorMade, but I'd go the Golfsmith route first.

Call TM. They are great, and I bet they will take care of you. The cost of replacing that is nothing to them if they earn a customer for life.

Wow! What a great response! I have dug up lots of great tips from this site. I am now going to be using it even more!
Anyway, as soon as I reach 10 posts I will post the pictures so you may all laugh at my expense. The dent is quite small. What worries me is the little raised part. If the club de-pressurizes I know it will be useless. I will take it to the range tomorrow and see what happens. I called TM today they told me to go to Golfsmith and talk to someone and to call back (the guy gave me his extension) and they could probably work something out. I am a poor college student (well, just graduated in May) and I used a lot of my graduation gift money to purchase this club and a few weeks before, brand new Burner 2.0s. All from GS. I am hoping I don't have to buy a whole new head at full price. TM has gotten a lot out of me recently. Hopefully they come through.

I too say welcome to the forum. I am not surprised that TMaG did not just brush you off, they do have great customer service and want to have satisfied customers. I don't think they would charge you full price for a replacement head, as I am sure they will want you to send them the old head to see what the raised part is and what they can do to prevent that from happening again. Good luck, and I really want to see the pics too.

Here are the pictures. I am still steaming about this. I am poor and need to make it on fumes until I start my new job since I just graduated from college. I have no money to spend on replacement or repair. Hopefully TM or GS can help me out. Only had this a week. I was going to take it to the range tomorrow and see if it is dead or still hittable. I am playing a round Thursday and need a driver obviously. I was planning to take the club in either way Thursday. Think I should hit it or keep it as is to take to the store?

The crack in white is actually just paint. Not a crack in the metal. But you can see the raised portion in the first picture. Strange that the paint chipped off like that. I had a similar dent on my old driver from doing the same thing a long time ago, but the paint didn't chip. Used that driver for a few years with the dent. Not sure yet if I will be able to do the same with this one.

Well you should call Taylormade and at least ask about it. If not then you can cleanly repair it with some enamel paint or car paint but with something that big, I would hope TMag would help.

Depending on where you bought it, I would take it back. I has a similar thing happen with a driver from Golfsmith after about a week and they swapped it out with a new one. As long as they don't think it ocurred mis-treating the club you should be fine.

Do you think it is ok to hit until I can take it in? I don't want to make it any worse and risk them not helping me. But I have a round Thursday and need a driver, obviously. My old one is from Jr. High and is too small. I would like to avoid that or borrowing. What do you think? I can take it Thursday after my round for sure.

That shouldn't happen TM Cutomer Service is horrible sometimes, but they might help. Otherwise if you paid with a credit card golfsmith will have your order on file I think.

That is my plan right now. But my problem is that I bought the club in a different city, and no longer have the receipt. So I doubt they can look up the transaction. Stupid of me to toss the receipt, I know. Hopefully they trust me? haha. I mean, its a real TM R11. Not a knock-off I am trying to pass off for real and trade in. I have a receipt from TM wedges I bought from GS weeks before. So hopefully they take my word for it. Anyone have any experience at GS with no receipt? Oh, I still have the transaction on my online banking, by the way.
