Default Round of my LIFE
Was able to get out today and play, it has been gorgeous all week and of course today rain and thunder storms. We figured it would be okay and went out anyway. Well as we are getting out of the car it starts raining but nothing heavy. I realize that I had forgot a rain jacket but no worries I have my rain gloves (recommendation from a board member). The rain was light and we went straight to the 1st tee and went for it. Well the first hole on this course is a par 5 with trees down the right, water on the left, and fairway bunkers sitting right in the middle around 250. I went on to double this hole. Not a great start.

I put that away and started over. Hit a great tee shot down the middle and was left with 125 yards. Stuck the green and two putted for par. Okay feeling a little better now. Next hole par 3 over water 175 yards. I hit a 5 iron and aimed to the right to take bunkers out of play. Well to my surprise and not sure how, but I hit a great draw and leave it 10 feet from the hole. Made par and now I am only two over after 3.

I went on to hit every fairway and all the green's in regulation. I was feeling great. The rain was not bothering me at all. After we finished 9 we added it up and I shot...... 39 on the front. I pared 2-6 bogeyed 7 and then pared 8 and 9. I was beating everyone and was just hoping the rain would not get worse. Well it did. By the time we got to 14 it was pouring and there was starting to be standing water everywhere. The two guys I was playing with said they were calling it and going in but If I wanted to keep playing I should since I was playing so well. I really wanted to but with no one out there to attest to what I would have shot on the last 4 holes I went in with them.

I ended up shooting 5 over through 14 holes. It is the best I have ever played. Par was 71 for this course and I only had 4 more holes to play. Damn rain storm killed my round. If it was raining bad and your playing partners were going in would you stay out and finish if you were playing great?

If they rang the bell to send you in I would not stay out. But if they let you stay, I would. Problem is, wet greens could kill the round. Four holes left I would have added a bogey and taken a 6-over round.

I'm just stuck thinking Caddyshack. hehe.

Seriously though, nice playing. You now know you're capable. Try to remember that mindset and recreate it every time.

bump the rain, if one of my buds was playing that well, I'd keep on keeping on!

I've had people pansy out on me for it being too cold, too windy, to hot, and too rainy (didnt mean it to rhyme). I say that the harsh conditions just makes it that much more interesting personally.

congrats on the round, it's such a great feeling to have one of those every once in a while

I should have finished but with the other two guys going back in I just felt like it would not have been the same with no one there to watch the last four. I mean I could have blown up. It was pouring in their defense and if I had been playing as bad as they were I would have wanted to go back in. The funny thing is it did not bother me one bit getting dumped on.

I would have played on. I hate rain, but if you were that far in, what the heck? And who cares if there had been anyone to attest to it? You would have known one way or the other.

Go back tomorrow and finish the last 4 holes. Pro tournaments do it all the time, why not you?

Great round man. I reckon I would have come in. I hate rain. But if it wasn't bothering me like you said I may have played on. Go back tomorrow and play those last 4

Good playing! Where did you play? I was going to put range time in at riverfront, but the rain ruined it. Hopefully your next round you'll pick up where you left off.

In the summer time during a heavy rain as long as there is no lightining I will wait it out until it becomes playable. Atleast during the summer the heat dries up all the puddles that form on the green making the course unplayable

I actually had something similar happen to me. I was +4 thru 13 and had to leave to drive my friend home. I regret not telling my friend to suck it up, we were finishing.
