This is my first post. I have been lurking for a couple of days.
I have played golf on and off for 30 years. 6 years ago I quit. In the last 6 years I played twice (both times in the last 2 years). Previously I stayed frustrated. I am a big man, ex power lifter / football player. Blew out my shoulder 6 years ago and had surgery. This effected much of my life, my exercise regime has suffered, I have gotten fatter. When I played this fall (scramble) I didn't hit many good shots but I hit enough to make me want to start again. I also had no pain afterwards. I have always had a weak long game ( I swing hard, even after surgery). I can still hit a wedge shot and putt. Today I visited a GolfTec facility and was quite impressed. I need to update my equipment and restart my swing. AS of now, I am considering following the GolfTec system and having them assist in selecting my new equipment. I do plan to start back with a series of lessons before hitting the practice tee or playing. The GolfTec facility is 100 miles from my home. (The only teachers I have had which helped my game previously are over 300 miles from my home). These distances are an issue and it will require planning to free up my schedule to accommodate this commitment. Is GolfTec worth the effort? Of should I take a week and go visit one of my old teachers? How do they do in assisting in selecting new clubs? I would love to hear your opinions on this approach and if anyone here started like this what was the impact? Thanks in advance. |
