Default Big decision made...
I've been a member of my current club for about 2 years. One of the main problems with it Ishtar in the wet Auckland months (End of April-end of August really) our course is almost unplayable. The club is fun, good people, but I just feel it's a waste of 4 months golfing.

So I decided to go back to a club I used to be a member of:

Muriwai Golf Club

The course is situated on the West Coast of Auckland, it's sand based and is a semi-links course. The great thing is that as it's sand based it's pretty much never closed due to rain/weather etc.

The course is just under 6,200 meters long from the men's club and championship tees (just under 6,800 yards) so pretty long. Some if the holes play into the prevailing wind so it's a real challenge.

I'm really looking forward to going back to Muriwai and playing one if if not the best courses in the region.

Here's a link to their website

http://www.muriwaigolfclub.co.nz/home.aspx

And here is the gallery of holes - http://www.muriwaigolfclub.co.nz/gallery.aspx - check out the 8th green, this is the signature hole facing the ocean. This hole us approx 150 meters and plays anything from a wedge to driver depending on the wind.

I'll update this thread in my progress. I expect my HI to go out a bit while I get used to the course again, then hopefully it'll come back down to where I want it - currently an index if 11 and my goal is a playing handicap of 9.

It's gonna be fun!!!

What a gorgeous piece of property! Looks like a great place to call home once again. Good luck on your journey to lower the cap back down!

Beautiful course, I am surprised at how few bunkers there are. I agree with moving to a course that I could play year round, that is a long block of days for a course to be almost unplayable.

That place is gorgeous. Every time I see people joining these beautiful courses, it makes me super jealous but at the same time happy for you guys. I know in my life time I will never be able to afford joining a golf club and I am okay with that.

Thanks for the feedback guys - it is a great piece of property that's for sure.

As to why I left - my daughter was born just over 4 years ago, and 13 weeks early. Those of you who are parents will know how early that is. Everything was fine although she stayed in hospital for almost 3 months.

She came home and everything was sweet, then in the October my wife fell down some stairs and injured her head and brain.

I then made the decision to move to a club 10 minutes from home rather than 45 minutes away.

Now my wife is better and my daughter is almost 4 and a half, so it's time to rejoin.

There you have it.

Holy crap! That just ain't fair! Only in my dreams could such a course be my home course, I would make the drive for that course every day I was free to play golf. Enjoy and glad to hear your wife and daughter are doing fine.

Mate it's all good, no need to feel bad, not like you were to know the intimate details of someone on the there side if the world

thanks man.

The best part is that it costs $300NZD less a year. Our subs at Muriwai are only $1,100NZD a year - and as I say to people, pick that course up and plonk it down in Florida or California and I bet it would be slightly more than that!

Had my 2nd round with my new irons today - all I can say is wow!

These irons combined with the KBS shafts are phenomenal! Great launch angles, fantastic flight, and long!

They are light years from the PX5.5s I used to have and feel so much nicer.

I basically chose these because of the Mizuno Shaft Optimizer and also after reading TC's experience with the same shaft set up in his RXT's. I'd highly recommend anyone looking for new irons to go down this route - you won't regret it!
