I've been using Dave as my instructor for about 7 years, back when he was working for a company called Golf Etc. in Waterford Lakes, before he branched off and opened his own store GolfEd (as in Golf Education), which has now been in business for over 5 years a features a much larger facility than before.
Dave's indoor facility off Alafaya Tr. (near Curry Ford) has 4 hitting bays (all outfitted with camera systems for both face-on and down-the-line playback), a golf simulator, and a large putting green to work on your short game. He also provides club fitting, club repair and shaft/grip replacement services, if needed. Although I personally don't feel an indoor facility is a 100% substitution for outdoor range time, I DO feel there is great benefit to practicing indoors and having that instant feedback camera system at your disposal. Also, having Dave there during your indoor practice sessions is invaluable because he's constantly reminding you of key lesson points and setting up the playback system with lines/angles to ensure you can quickly (and visually) identify your swing faults. In addition, GolfEd's indoor facility is perfect for practicing on extremely hot days, when there's inclement weather, or just when you feel your swing is getting off track and you want to make sure you're working on the right things from your last lesson. I would definitely recommend, at the very least, that you pop in for a free swing analysis and meet Dave for yourself. I think you'll be impressed not only with his facility, but with Dave himself and his swing philosophy that will take your game to the next level. Hope this was helpful... |

Hey guys, not sure which forum this would go under but i am curious to ask the community about a place called Golf Ed. One has just opened up down the street from me in Orlando and I am not sure if it is a chain or if it is a local shop. It seems to be very similar to Golftec, providing fittings, lessons and swing analysis through launch monitors and fittings, and right now they are conducting free swing analysis to generate some business for the local opening. I was wondering if anyone has used Golf Ed and could offer some insight to their use, wether it was beneficial or not and about your experience etc. I think I will probably go in because as far as I am concerned you can never see yourself enough on film but was curious to know wether it would be worth looking in to as a full time place to go to work on my game?

Went to the one nearest me in the Waterford Lakes area (always called it Golfed like in past tense) and it is a full indoor facility. Yes I agree with you in regards to video but practicing full time indoors where outdoor practice facilities are readily available could be a little dull. As far as lessons are concerned that all depends on your level of comfort with the instructor. If you're not comfortable with the instructor, it won't matter is you're indoor or outdoor.

The pro, I think his name is Dave, seems like a wonderful guy. I didn't really ask him many questions since he was busy with a lesson. As far as the facility, they have 3 or 4 hitting bays (the one he showed me was the one in the back right which seems to be the largest one) and they have a small putting area. All in all it's on the small scale of things. I have a friend that just started taking up the game and he likes it there. They do have the option for outdoor lessons as well as course lessons. I believe they've only been open since the beginning of the year so everything looks relatively new.
