Default BDS
Anyone else have BDS (Big Drive Syndrome) now and then? Today I was BDS all day. I was hitting Driver close to 300 all day and killing 3wood 240 and 5wood 225. Could not chip what so ever. It can be so frustrating to hit a monster driver and then double the hole cause I cant chip.

Biggsy has BDS, I've seen it a few times. Distance is highly overrated in my opinion. I would also think that you would be hitting your 3wood further than 240 if you were hitting 300 yard drives, or I'm missing something.

LOL, in fact, yesterday I had the opposite problem. I hurt my shoulder and my driving game was bad. Like 20-30 yards shorter on average on the sim. Just my luck, this group of kids that were on the range killing the ball decided to watch me bomb a couple 220 yarders.

Only just started swining my 3wood. I can not go after it like I do my driver cause I tend to top it. So I try to take a reall smooth and slower swing then I do with my driver. I normally do not hit drive 300 but today I was just hitting everything in middle and was really swining hard.

+1. Well, it's all relative. Big drive days for me are 50 to 60 yards short of 300. And there's usually only one of those! hahaha

Nothing worse than a 16 yr old laughing at you. This happened to me last year in our saturday group. I put one out there bout 290 and this 16 year old kid outdrove me by more than 10 yards. =(

Once, I hit one 250 without wind or elevation and I felt like a fist pump fiesta was in order.

I would much rather hit the ball straighter and shorter and score better then being able to hit a long drive and thats it

We have some pretty short par 4's and there is nothing worse than driving a par 4 and taking par. Not that I would know.....

Had that feeling today. Hit a monster drive and great 3wood on a 500 yard par 5. Was on the front of the green and three putted.

Yes. On sunday I started out playing my usual 3 wood on the tee to keep it in the fairway. Took out the big stick on hole 5 and just wacked the heck out of it, 270+. I felt like I was swinging as hard as I could with the driver but I couldnt do anything but drive it down the middle. One point I had a 347 yd (measured with gps) drive. (carry ~250 + 3 cart path bounces )

But those drives sure dont help when you cant 2 putt to save your life. 3-4 putts all day.

I wish. I had shoulder problems last fall and played anyway. The result is now that everything is healthy my swing is completely wrecked and I'm having serious control issues off the tee with a driver.

Story of my golf game, I can't get all parts of my game going at the same time. Happened once, shot -1 on the front 9, followed by a solid +7 on the back...

I have a different sort of BDS, but it isn't because I'm hitting it long, it's because I'm trying to keep up with a big hitting playing partner, and that never works. When I get into that mode, BDS turns into BSS (Big Score Syndrome).
