Default 2011 Goals
I have not been on THP for some time due to other committments but hopefully am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel so to speak. As 2010 is winding down, I started thinking about next year. I thought I would set up a post for those who set goals each year and was curious what fellow THP'ers were planning for 2011. I would also like people to share their highlights of 2010 as a way of looking back before we go forward.

One of my goals for 2010 was to shoot a sub 90 round and I accomplished that on a few occassions this year and felt pretty good about it. I was playing pretty regularly in the middle of the year and could really see some progress. Then work and the oppressive heat of summer kicked in and I havent had time to get out with any regularity, so I am not sure where the old game is nowadays.

Any how, the highlight of 2010 for me was scoring my first ACE which was totally awesome and a feat I will never forget. Bridgestone was pretty cool in that they sent me a dozen e6 golf balls because that is what I played when I made the hole in one.

For 2011:

1) Practice 2X a week to improve ball strking and short game.
2) Shoot more mid 80's rounds.
3) Play more golf with my brother and fellow THP'ers.
4) Commit to one set of golf clubs and stick with them....All Year!

These are mine. Please share yours.

Cheers,

SeeMoreGuy

Great thread SMG!!!

1. Get fitted for a set of clubs (driver, irons, shafts, etc) and play them the whole year.
2. Break 80, would love to shoot a 77-79
3. Find a golf ball that works for my game and stick with it
4. Have a better attitude and not get frustrated when I make a bad shot.

Cant top your highlight smg, thats a great one! I guess mine would be hitting the flag stick from 165 out and it landing right next to the hole for an easy tape in birdie.

1. Work hard and make high school golf team.
2. Workout more. Not necessarily golf related but it would help with power and flexibility.
3. 70's consistently
4. Work on FIR. My ball striking is good but it's hard to put it close from the rough.

Goal is to shoot a 70. Nothing else, just one goal to shoot for. Figure all the pieces will fall into place if I just keep that in mind.

1. Get fitted for clubs (going all out).
2. Get out and at least hit the ball once a week.
3. Consistently shoot in the 70s.

Those are my golf goals. My other goals are too numerous for this thread.

My goals for 2011 are to become a scratch or better handicap and to shoot an under par round at my course (par 72). Great thread! Good luck to everyone with their goals!

My goal for 2011:

Improve mental game
Become consistent ball striker
Have fun!

How I will achieve this:

Mental game: is there any hope? Continue reading books, listening to coach, playing tougher courses, playing more tournaments, putting what I'm taught into place. Get rid of negative self-talk!

Consistent ball striker: Lessons and practice, practice, practice what I'm taught.

Have fun! It's only golf and life goes on. There's always next time.

Beginning of 2010 I set two goals for myself: break 100 and score my first birdie. With realistically only about 2-3 more weeks left in the season, I only achieved the goal of breaking 100. A few close calls and once unofficially, but still no birdie. Scoring on a good day has improved to the mid-90s, so along with chasing that elusive birdie, my new goal for 2011 is to break 90.

Great thread!

1. Play more golf with SMG!
2. Improve my back 9 performance (mental)
3. Be able to play my game no matter who I am playing with (mental)
4. Reach a single digit H.I. (I would say to have a H.I. of 5 by the end of summer)
5. Have more one putt greens
6. Hit more GIR's
7. Hit more FIR's
8. Develop an automatic, correct swing
9. Learn how to hit a fade at will

I only have one. Break 80 at PGA National Champion Course. 85 last time and I felt as though it should have been mid 70s the way I was hitting the ball, just struggled with the putting. This time around will be different.

To get my 3 yr old daughter to start going to the course with me. Our last experience didn't go too well since it was so hot. She thinks everytime I ask her if she wants to go that its too hot... so I'll just wait until it 40 degrees and see if she still thinks its too hot. She already has her own putter and 7 iron.

Play and practice more- 1 or 2 times a month is driving me up the wall. There only so many balls/time I can hit balls into field in front of my house & be able to find them due to crops growing.

Shoot in mid to low 70's again- getting back the feel of game since not playing like I used to.

Putter- LOL Work more on reading greens and getting the # of putts down.

1. Single Digit Index (If I can accomplish 2 of the following I should be able to get Under 10).

1a. Hit 8 GIR/Round (Current 5)
1b. Average 5.5 strokes/par 5 (This is an awful part of my game 6.25- I don't even try for the green in two... somehow I always end up in a ton of trouble off the tee or BOTCH an approach shot)
1c. 32 putts/18 holes (Current 35)

2. Break 80 (Should happen if I get a single digit)
3. Find a consistent group in my area to play with
4. Play with/Travel to a lot of THPers (this one is already WELL on its way to happening!)
