90% of the time I use my 58* Vokey. Both of my wedges have 8* bounce, so I control digging by how much I open the face based on my reading of the sand texture. If I have a real long shot, I'll bust out with the 54*. For real hard sand (dirt) I close the face more (still somewhat open) so that I don't skull the ball.

mainly use the 60*. I really don't have to open the face up and it's easier for me to get out. However, I do tend to leave it short unless I give a full swing.

Depending on where the ball is in the sand and how the sand is, I don't necessarily use a SW all the time in the sand. If its a fairly flat fairway bunker, I'll use an iron. If the sand is closer to the green and there's a high lip to get over, I'll sometimes use my LW (60*) rather than the SW. I use my SW mostly for chip shots at 50 yards and in.

I used to use my RAC 54 from all sand. I'm not the greatest bunker player, but I never had any problem getting out. It was low bounce, and worked fairly well for the sand we have around here, in KC. We don't have fluffy bunkers. They are pretty much all dense. Then I changed to iWedges, same loft, but more bounce, and now I have trouble getting out. Thinking about going back to a lower bounce wedge in both my 54 and 58, just for this reason. Maybe it's the sole that I'm having problems with, not sure yet. Need to try and find a place for me to try a few different wedges to figure out what I want.

56-14 SW - To me it is all a comfort level. I just mentally "know" that I am coming out of the sand with it around the green and about how much to open the face depending on the lie and make the swing. I played with a couple of guys this past weekend that were decent golfers and they had no idea how to get out of sand (and no confidence to do it). One of them tried to use a putter and the other just skulled it across the green to be done with it. If you have a local driving range or course you can go to that has a practice bunker then go there and use all of your wedges to hit bunker shots. There are countless "tips" out there about getting out of the sand and I am sure many here could offer those as well but as I said, to me it is all a repitition and confidence thing. Figure out the one that works the best for you and use it all the time and that is one less thing to worry about.

Els did a little lesson on this the other night on the golf channel, I learned a lot. This is something I do not get to practice enough so I cant wait to put it to use. errr, I hope I dont get in the sand but I am pretty confident I will have better succes getting out.

I saw that. I liked how he lined up to the target with his feet and left the clubface wide open. The ball went straight where his feet were aimed. This is the hardest part of bunker play for me...the setup. I too will try Ernie's tips.
