Default My new favorite club
I've always had this sort of love and hate thing with my driver. Well yesterday I wanted to get to the bottom of it, so I started to do some research and analysis of my swing long into the night.

With the information in hand, I went to the range today and diligently stuck to my action plan. I hit about 100 balls with my driver consistently and almost effortlessly. I was getting solid contact almost everytime. Roughly 85% of my drives were straight down the middle with a nice trajectory. The 15% (push/hook) were mainly due to me "trying to hit it hard".

All I can say is that, aside from good technique, it is all about tempo. Everytime I hit a bad shot, I slowed down my tempo and aimed for good contact. The results were incredible and the best part was that I was not in the least tired and could have hit another 100 balls.

This is such a great feeling to be able to trust and enjoy hitting the driver! Needless to say, I have a new favorite club. Practice and commitment do pay off.

I love this game!

That is all.

awesome I have problems with my driver too. Slowing down my tempo has helped a lot.

Yeah the driver is tricky because it's kind of counter-intuitive to not think "hit hard". The tendency is to tense up and over grip the club without even knowing. This is why I will keep reminding myself.

It's a very good tip. Can happen with any club in the bag if you're trying to hit it that extra 5 yards. Get that tension out before setting up, and give your swing a chance!

This is interesting because I went through the exact same thing a few weeks ago. I hit two buckets of balls with only the driver... And I came upon the same exact conclusion. I would normally trie to murder the ball. But now, an easy swing with good tempo and the only time I end up in the trees is when I hit it too far I swear I loose no distance by swinging easier!
