How fast are your greens?
I have two courses that I play on, one more often than the other, but their greens are drastically different speeds. My regular course keeps the greens around a 7-9 on the stimp meter due to high winds and lots of contour. The other course, which I maybe practice once or twice a week, and play every other month or so, is much faster, on the order of 12-13. I've heard that 12-13 is faster than what the pros play at the US Open, so when I putt horrible there I dont feel so bad. They keep the greens that fast because they're fighting some sort of disease or bug. Man, it's like glass. Tap the ball and it goes 15-20 feet.
How fast are the greens you play on? Does changing it up affect your putting performance? I typically practice on the slower of the two, but I am playing a round this friday at the latter, and am really dreading my putting performance. |
it's kind of funny, but the 3 courses i play the most all have different grasses on their greens and all of them putt drastically different. i'd say the avg. around here (b/c i usually ask before i tee off) on the stimp is around 8 or 9. one of the courses has a poanna greens (i'm certain that's spelled wrong) and they're the toughest to putt on for me. i have a tough time reading them.

Right now mine are all sanded (and they often are... :( ) so it's like putting on your driveway.
Yet the practice greens are SLOW, so it's impossible to practice for them. And I don't know about the meter thing, sorry! lol |
my home course... the greens are slow
my favorite course... the greens are way fast my practice course... the greens are even slower than my home course dunno if that affects my putting in any way shape or form... but i dont do too bad putting wise |
