Here in Canada we are moving to a centralized handicapping record system which is great. Any R.C.G.A. member club can register 200 members on the database as part of their annual fee anymore than that there is an additional charge. As I understand it no matter where I play in N.A most courses are in the database either R.C.G.A. or U.S.G.A. I can enter a round into the scoring record; sometimes right at the course where I have just played, but definitely where ever I can access the internet.
Over heard our Club Captain telling a member that very soon if not right now members will have a card(sounded like a credit card) that one just swipes the rest of the conversation I didn't hear and didn't have a chance to ask him to repeat the story. I assume this might be a replacement for as we call them a "Competitor Card" anyone heard anything about this Might be just a Canadian thing but who knows. Thought with the centralized handicapping system "Competitor Cards' would be going the way of the dinosaurs as clubs hosting tournaments can just go online and verify handicaps. |
