Default I now know how the long hitters feel (high winds)
Played at Highland Park Country Club on Chicago's northshore today and shot my worst round in two years -- a 95. The sustained winds were over 20 with gusts to 30+ and the #1 & #2 difficulty holes -- both Par 5s of about 580 were dead into the wind. It was almost funny.

Anyway, a long carry for me is about 240, occasionally a few yards farther. Today, I teed off (wind directly behind me) and hit one of my "good" drives straight and high but flat and it rode the wind and I flew the green on a short par 4. It was 323 yards by GPS. Naturally, it took me 4 to get up and down!

I've rarely played in winds like these. On a later hole, I know I hit roughly the same drive and it GPSd at 182! I had a strong cut get blown back over the left side of the fairway with a 5 iron. I also had 3 bunker shots directly into the wind. All very amusing!
