Default Which Putter Grip Do You Use?
After reading the recent putter threads I started thinking.

I searched to see if this was posted all ready but didn't find anything so here it is...

What putting grip do you use?

I only ask because I have been using a "left hand low" grip with my index finger running down the grip for over twelve years and everytime I play with someone new they always comment on my grip and ask me about it.

I use my same interlocking grip when putting except it is slightly separated and much looser.

Did I start a trend?

My grip is similar, but right hand low with my left index finger running down over my right hand. Does that make sense - wait - I'll check. Yup - that's it.

So I use a reverse overlap for putting....left hand on the top of the putter and overlapping opposite of my normal overlap for other clubs. Make sense? I do use a long putter for really slow greens and when they are aerated....and on occassions when I am a little too yippy.

I don't know what mine is called, I suppose it's more of a baseball grip except I have my right index finger pointed downward & resting against the clubs shaft.

Overlap for me.
A guy in our league plays right handed and putts left handed.

We've only played once together so far, so I didn't ask anything, but...(it's not working!)

Vardon (overlapping) except right index finger runs down the grip.

JB's thread about putting got me thinking.
After reading the recent putter threads I started thinking.
I can't say I approve of all this thinking going on. Let's not make a habit of it people, mmm-kay?

I dunno what you'd call mine. It's one that works for me.

I hold the putter with my fingertips only, and both index fingers down the grip. Since I've started using it, I find my distance control much better. I'm zeroing in on the aim. I have a lot of follow up putts inside of 2' lately.

I got rid of the Winn AVS grip that was on the putter, in favor of a Golf Pride tour velvet putter grip. I like it tons better, it doesn't get slimy.

Talking is fine. It's the thinking that I find unsettling.

Same thing in my league!!! I play with him often. He does it because of a problem with sight in one of his eyes.

When I forst read this thread, I thought it was talking about the actual rubber grip on the putter. I have experimented with the Super Stroke and now have the Winn Jumbo on my main putter. I still keep the Super Stroke putter in my spare bag and use it occasionally.

I use the standard grip described in Utley's book -- no interlock, but slightly overlaping with the pointer finger running down the lower hand, with the club held so that the grip/shaft is in the palm and parallel with my forearms (rather than below the forearms in the finger joints).

I use a Jumbo Crown Grip. I know that's not what the thread is about but I use it because of how I like to grip the club.

I basically have the backs of my hands facing my body when I putt. My left hand is basically like the weakest grip swinging a iron or wood, while my right hand is set like I am gripping the iron or wood with the strongest grip I can. My left thumb is inside the fingers onmy right hand. You can see the entire front of the putter grip when I am gripping the club. I found this keeps me from twisting the club in my hands, since both hands are set to the extremes.

I use the oversized grip because this grip is not comfortable to me with a standard sized grip.
