That is just plain wrong. You can really hurt someone.

Our course has pace of play at 4 hours all the time. The GPS on the carts tells you if you are over or under that pace and by how much.
we have the same thing in our carts on GPS but some do not adhere to it at all it drives me nuts!! 2 Fridays in a row we were behind the same foursome that was awful playing from the tips!!! we asked to play through and they agreed next thing you know we drive up to the next tee box after finishing on the green and they have teed off in 4 different directions and never let us play through!!

Anyway it is irritating but the pre-shot post-shot routine helps a little. I love playing middle of the day yes it is hot but the pace of play is always 3hours!!

You are quite right "Lefty", as I have been there, and done that. Felt the same way. I eventually decided that hitting good shots took away a lot the grief that the slow play in front of me had created. Slow play is a tough scenario to over come.

I understand what you are saying, but there is no routine that will help you if you are waiting 5 mins on every shot. You will just be bored and disgusted and ready to walk off the course

I wholeheartedly agree.....
1 of 3 things happens to people that hit balls at me
1) Hold up my hands and look at them like they are nuts
2) Kick/throw their ball back at them
3) Take out the cell, call the clubhouse and have the marshall come take care of it...(this one if the ball was hit at me to prove some point)
(and I am not a slow player...it is usually someone that thinks they need to play through when there are 5- foursomes ahead of me and there is nowhere to go)

As for slow players that are holding everyone up.....and wont let anyone play through.....Option 3 above works everytime... it has for me anyway)

Misty -

There's a story they just played on the radio here in my neckuvtha woods...a man asked a (17 year old) girl for her phone number. She gave him a fake one. The next time she saw him, he held a gun to her face. "...like a woman scorned"... BS!

This topic rears its head now and then, folks side as differently as they do on the left and right side of the aisle. While slow players are obnoxious, what might possibly bug me more are Unofficial Rule Enforcers. If I lose a ball and want to just drop a new one, if you're not in my group, who cares? In my mind, you can't hate slow play, and hate seeing people bend the rules in Sunday afternoon golf at the same time.

There is a scoring method available that would help with preventing slow play by individuals. It is called "equity stroke control", (ESC) and is used in conjunction with one's handicap. I don't see very many folks using it, but it is available. See link below.

The only problem with ESC is that it only affects what you post. So you still have to finish the hole. I could be completely wrong and probably am.
