Default Crappiest course you personally have played?
Which is the worst course you have ever played & why? I have played a few really bad ones so am going to think about it for a bit before I post.

Wow, great topic. I have played a lot of them. I would say one in Clearwater called East Bay. Its a complete Dog Track (although I have not played it in 2 years). Wide open fairways and by fairways I mean dirt paths.

There is a 9 hole in Johnston city IL. It is awful. I swear I have found gravel on the greens.

The worst course I have played & I use the word "course" very loosely, is a small par 3 at Vitense golf range. The greens are horrid little things that seem to always be aerated, but the worst thing is you tee off on every hole from those driving mats, they are bolted down to concrete pads & the rubber tee's are all beat to hell.

Still thinking on the worst "real" course I have played.

Easy one for me. It was Deseret Rose GC in Las Vegas for about a year. American Golf knew they were being replaced by the County as the course's management team. All they did was take in the green fees, and not much else as far keeping the course playable. The greens required a 4WD ball, and bunkers were less than hard pan. Dead, un-watered grass was every where. The whole place could have been "ground under repair" if they would have bought the white paint. Now a new management team is in place, and the course is looking, and playing better every day.

There is a track up in Ely Nevada that gives true meaning to the term "cow pasture pool", since there are actually cows grazing in the fairways. "Cow Pies" are considered hazards up there.

thats one course Ive never played in this area. there are a lot of crappy ones though. i played The Tides about 10 years ago and that was pretty crappy. i just remember balls flying by me from every angle and "FORE!" being yelled out constantly there. one of the holes had a huge net around the tee box so you wouldnt get hit while teeing off.
also, i dont know if its still around, but Cove Cay was another crappy course around here. i havent played it in over 10 years, so i dont know if its still crappy or not. i mean, these arent goat tracks or anything, but they are a couple of the crappiest courses ive played around here

I actually like Cove Cay. Its a cheap guilty pleasure of mine. Its a unique layout with lots of dog legs, but yeah, the conditions are not great.

How did I forget Rocky Point. Sectioned in between two major highways in Tampa, this course has no trees and every fairway is right next to each other. Its cheap so tons of hackers are out there and they play from 5 fairways over. The course is awful. You can hit it right down the middle of the fairway and still lose your ball.

Yikes. The one I mentioned is right next to I-57 and it is not uncommon to see someone playing shirtless. (not the good kind of shirtless either!) People will drive the cart on the greens. I haven't been there in a long time so things might have changed.

It's a tossup for me -

Tejas in Stephenville, backs up to a trailer park, it's a real gem. We used to go there just to drink beer, and sometimes hit a ball.

Horseshoe Bend Country Club - the ground was so hard, it was like hitting off of concrete, the fairways were Dallas grass, no bermuda. Sometimes they water it, it looks best after the river has flooded.

Does no look that bad via satellite on google, but that look can be decieving. Check out the satellite image of Brevofield Golf Links located just north of Raleigh next to Highway 98. It literally is an old cow pasture!

That is very funny.

Check out the satellite of Brevofield...they planted small trees between "fairways"...if you can call them fairways. Scary bad course, and the scorecard talks about the history of the course and its "designer"/farmer.

type in Bevofield Golf Links into Google...then click on the blue link that says "show map of 13601 Camp Kanata Road". Click on the actual map which will then bring it up in Google maps...on the top right of the map you can click "Satellite" and zoom in pretty far.

If you get it via satellite image...I dare anyone to try and the tee boxes that match its green...then try to map out 1 thru 18!

It is a 68.7 and 111 from th back tees! You need to shoot 5-8 below your average to count it in your handicap.

Wawenock Golf Course in Walpole, Maine. http://www.wawenockgolfclub.com/ I swear whoever designed it really doesn't like golfers. No matter how dry the summer is, there are holes where you should be in waders. Badly maintained, and not challenging--just mean.
