gnan nookkiyathil:
Double Indemnity: Superawesome. The one where Chandler, working with Wilder on the script, asked Billy to stop waving the damned "monkey stick". ![]() Some Like it hot: Brilliant. "Nobody's perfect" ![]() The Apartment: Lemon + Maclaine = super chemistry. Irma La Douce: A bit silly...but Lemon + Maclaine again shows what a wonderful comedic pair they are. Sabrina: Etho Bogart, hepburn & Holden-kaaga parkalam. Particularly Bogey playing suave business man. Sunset Boulevard - wrote about extensively elsewhere. Masterpiece. |

Yes, Stanley. Awesome film. Some say it's better than the original book by James M. Cain. Chandler, when adapting it with Wilder, didn't like the book at all, he said everything Cain touched, "smelled of Billy goat"
![]() Superb dialogues are some of Wilder's strength, and here coupled with Chandler who is known for wonderful dialogues in his own book, you get magic. Oru saambil: Phyllis: Mr. Neff, why don't you drop by tomorrow evening about eight-thirty. He'll be in then. Walter Neff: Who? Phyllis: My husband. You were anxious to talk to him weren't you? Walter Neff: Yeah, I was, but I'm sort of getting over the idea, if you know what I mean. Phyllis: There's a speed limit in this state, Mr. Neff. Forty-five miles an hour. Walter Neff: How fast was I going, officer? Phyllis: I'd say around ninety. Walter Neff: Suppose you get down off your motorcycle and give me a ticket. Phyllis: Suppose I let you off with a warning this time. Walter Neff: Suppose it doesn't take. Phyllis: Suppose I have to whack you over the knuckles. Walter Neff: Suppose I bust out crying and put my head on your shoulder. Phyllis: Suppose you try putting it on my husband's shoulder. Walter Neff: That tears it. ![]() |

![]() ![]() Holden didn't act in "Seven year Itch". Grouchs should be talking about "Stalag 17". Btw, I'd have to pitch in about "The Seven year itch". The film and especially Monroe's iconic skirt-flying pose, was paid homage, along with other 50's icons, in Jack Rabbit Slim's (Pulp fiction). |
