This show is so great! Did anyone watch the Aimee Mann episode? Love the Tori reference. And love that they got Sarah Mclachlan in on it too!!! The show has been reminding me of The State a lot.

Ugh, this show is dire and unfunny (possible exception: the Sarah MacLachlan pinata / "sit down Sarah!"). I want to strangle half the characters (is that what is supposed to be the source of the humour here? my murder-wishes?) and when that isn't happening I'm instead bored by sitting through weak ideas being overworked in skits that go on too long.

My boyfriend makes me watch it (well, more like, I owe him a favour of this kind) because he lived in Portland for 8 years of his adult life and considers it home. The show, to him, is more Portland-porn than comedy. He tries to identify location shots, etc. That kinda racist japanese girls at a coffee shop skit from this week had him on cloud 9 because he used to live by that coffee shop and go in there all the time. Since I've never been within 3000 km of Portland I don't even have that hook.

So, half the people who live here we're all "OMGPORTLANDIA is totally making fun of us. Waaahhh. And who the fuck is Carrie Brownstein, anyway? " The Oregonian made a big deal about it. Everyone else pretty much got the joke.

And what I loved about the whole Carrie Brownstein thing was someone said that Sleater-Kinney was an awful band from Seattle. Sleater-Kinney is,actually, from Olympia...and quite awesome.

So weird to see Carrie make that progression from Sleater-Kinney to this, but it's very cool to see she's pulled it off well! I use to live in Olympia and Seattle and was a huge fan of theirs, living in Vancouver BC now makes this show feel very nostalgic. Olympia and Seattle and I'm sure a few other west coast cities could easily be substituted for a lot of those jokes, especially the feminist bookshop, soo funny.

Not to point because it looks like a penis, I seriously feel like I've heard that somewhere else before.

I've been loving it! It's really cool to see Carrie Brownstein being so fucking hilarious! Compared to the original Thunderant skits, I was surprised to see how outright weird Portlandia is. It often reminds me of Upright Citizens Brigade.

I'm really loving this show. The first episode was ok, but the second and the third was awesome.

I've seen the first 2 episodes. I dunno, they seem to be a bit of a hit&miss for me. :/
