So...what did everyone think of last night??

I loved the Sally/creepy Glenn interactions. Holy shit that kid is creepy. He's transferred his Betty obsession right onto Sally.

JOAN JOAN JOAN! Roger was right - that red dress DOES make her look like a present!

Roger being humiliated by the Lucky Strike guy was lollerskates. I hate that guy though for what he did to Sal.

Don. Don is...well Don is being a dick. He's being a pathetic drunk in a most unattractive way. My heart broke when his secretary opened her sad little card with the two fifties in it. However, he still makes my little heart go pitter patter because he's sexy.

this episode seemed like mostly fluff.

I wonder where this whole Glenn & Sally thing is going. She's already a troublemaker so the two of them might just get into some serious shit.

Did you guys see the preview for next week? Srs bsns. No Bueno.

I didn't see the preview and I hate it that AMC's site doesn't seem to have up previews, only those quick teasers.

It did seem like a lot of fluff with a buildup towards something more consequential in the end. It's interesting that the last season ended on a note that seemed to indicate that Don would be ascendant again. Well, he would have been if he'd paid attention. Everything he's mired in is his fault. It's a nice message for all the don draper wannabes out there: the guys who kept playing the game the way he did ended up looking pathetic. Freddy x 10. At least Freddy can make a stab at sobriety, despite being an old-fashioned, sexist butthead.

Two 50s is what, $700 today? Poor Allison.

^ it's only 300 less what an extremely high end girl would go for in nyc...

eta: preview
Joan is @ the Drs asking if she should be worried. I forget what else. It was all so dramatic

It's difficult to watch the show while hating the protagonist so much. Don's charm has completely worn off me. I wonder what Pete and Bert feel about being pretty much written out of the show?

That said, Peggy's storyline is very interesting, and I'm loving the weird Glenn/Sally relationship. He's disturbingly assertive when speaking to her but I'm not sure if that's just me looking at it through my feminazi lens.

We're only two eps in...I don't think we can say Pete and Bert have been written out yet. Pete is such a delicious character, I should hope Weiner makes good use of him.

Well, I guess she can't be high end if she doesn't even take off her dress.

Oh my, that was one tense christmas party with lots of buttkissing and power play. I loved it!
Joan, in that dress, leading a conga line can make any gay man straight.

That Glenn kid. He's creepy and I'm not sure I like that plot line right now. He seemed a bit too out-there, while I think MM's strenght lies in subtlety.

And Don, oh Don. You really are decontructing yourself, aren't you? 'Thank you for bringing my keys'...?
I hope that letter she started typing was a resignation.

HELLO.

Season 4 premiere is on now! I am...uh...surprised by events so far! Mostly events pertaining to Don and his uh...bedroom behaviors.

And...

Joan has an office!

loved that episode. the overall tone seemed a little lighter (by this show's standards) than previous seasons, though i think the season 3 finale definitely set that tone. couldn't have been a better opening line for this season than "who is Don Draper?"

and on a superficial note, Don Draper asking to get slapped around...yes please.

Yeah, that was super-hot. Beyond that, I really enjoyed the whole episode, and I'm pretty sure Don's arrogance at the end will come back to haunt him. I thought the b-plot with Peggy/Pete/the new art director was a nice way to keep the tone lighter and set up the Don/Peggy dynamic for any new viewers. Betty continues to be a terrible character, but it's to be expected at this point, and I love her mother-in-law. Joan having an office also made me ridiculously happy, nice to see her get some respect.

If you haven't seen the first three seasons, beware: episode discussion follows and you will be spoiled. Everyone who is current, this means you don't have to wrap basic episode discussion in spoiler tags. If it's aired anywhere in the world it's fair game for discussion here. However if you have some bit of information that is a true spoilers, hide that shit under a tag. Thank you.

SO. Season premiere. Who is Don Draper? I loved most everything about this episode, though I have to say Don's speech to the reporter at the end doesn't bode well for his emotional life. Guess he's back to being an ad instead of a person.

Re Betty and whats his face: guess the thrill is gone unless he's taking what isn't his. Notice how that interaction with Don gave him his mojo back? What a creep.

Needs more Joan. Roger was hilarious. Peggy and her assistant dude were great -- but what the hell is up with the Marcia/John bit they keep doing?

Doh, now there's three. I didn't see this one either!

Whichever thread we use, please let's not use the "all inclusive" one for current episode discussion. Those generic threads are trouble when it comes to episode discussion and people who aren't current. I personally hate having to spoiler tag basic discussion (aka the whole point of the thread), it's annoying enough by itself but maddening when you trip into an ACTUAL spoiler because everyone is misusing the spoiler tag to protect people who aren't current.

I loved last night's episode. It seems Don has gone a bit rogue. I really loved Jon Hamm's acting this episode. I thought he was superb.

Also? His asking to be slapped? My husband and I BOTH gasped out loud with surprise, and then I turned red and started hiding my face in the pillow and shouting "IT'S JUST TOO GOOD!".

One word summation: Daaaaaaaaaaaamn!
Highlights:
* Peggy growing a pair of balls then Don removing them...then Peggy getting them back! Oh snap!
* Was that a hooker Don had over on Thanksgiving? WTF!?!?
* Roger not being able to sit down for a drink at a restaurant!
* Joan! Must have MOAR JOAN!!
* Don going batshit and snappin' his fingers at the wholesome swimsuit company guys.
* Pryce has one line the entire episode. Haha! Classic.

I can't wait to see where they take these characters the rest of this season!
