British, January 28, 2008 - Guillermo Del Toro appears to be inching nearer to pointing the Hobbit films after industry magazine The Hollywood Reporter declared he was in discussions with New Line and MGM concerning the task. Del Toro's title has been bandied around for some time in terms of the Tolkien modifications, particularly following the person himself talked of how remarkably he regarded the book within an meeting with MTV last month. It would appear that the whispers might now become reality, with just the authors hit avoiding the Hellboy manager, and Lord of the Rings supremo and executive maker Peter Jackson, from starting focus on the programs with an as-yet-unhired author. Since Peter Jackson resolved his legitimate variations with New Line, came ultimately back up to speed for The Hobbit, but declared he'd perhaps not be pointing, there's been intense speculation regarding who might copy the new Zealander's sterling work from Rings. Self-confessed "geek" Del Toro could be several fan's favorite to helm a Tolkien film because of his unparalleled reputation for dream film-making, centered on films such as Hellboy, Blade 2, The Devil's Backbone and the Oscar-nominated Pan's Labyrinth. Seemingly New Line and MGM have tentatively pencilled in principal photography for both films - which is shot back-to-back - for 2009, with a of $150m per movie. The next year the very first is scheduled for launch this season, with the 2nd. The Hobbit, compiled by Tolkien in 1937, happens a long time before The Lord of the Rings and centers on small Bilbo Baggins, who, plus a team of dwarves and Gandalf the wizard, start on a mission to grab the prize of Smaug the monster. Based on studies, this story will be told by the first movie, although events will be shown by the second immediately preceding the start of The Fellowship of the Ring.Source: IGN Movies Well, with Jackson perhaps not directing I'd be happy with Del Toro in around I've loved the movies of his that I've seen. I actually don't understand how good Hellboy is really as a variation because I've never read the comics but I like that and I enjoy Pan's Labyrinth so I'd be optimistic that he and Jackson might released a picture of comparable quality to the LotR trilogy. And I can't wait to see what Weta do with Smaug
