regarding cats

aslam o alikum
is cat is najis (sombody told me tht cat's feet her najiz regarding litter box tht after doing his/her hajah she step on carpet and if sombdy step with a wet foot his wudu is broken and the place become najis)
and wt do u feed ur cat and where to buy halal cat food
jazakallah

Salam Aleykum,

I remember that I read in the Hanafi madhab that "Jaf 'ala Jaf Tahir bila Khilaf" which means "a Dry body touching another dry body is not Najis" so the cat urine which is on her body is Najis if it is still wet, but if it has dried then it no longer is Najis... However if it is dry and your Hand is wet and you touch it then it becomes Najis...so the urine on her body needs to have dried and your hand needs to be dry as well.

oh and pls correct me if I am wrong...

As for the cat itself it's not Najis, it's pure according to the Sunnah... I don't know if u need Halal meat to feed an animal.

Salam,

I believe cats are are OK, and what you stated about breaking of wudu is not correct. obviously if you touch something dirty like the cats droppings, I would repeat wudu, but other then that, you can have cats as pets.

السلام عليكم,

Yeah, so they don't eat bread or vegetable stuff. Just meat. You can give all the meat scraps, and even leftover bones from dinner and she will clean it all off- good way to not waste anything. You can also give milk, although I think too much milk is not good for them or something? You can google that.

And if she doesn't have access to outdoors than she will need fresh water.

I think its best you just give her pet food just to stay on the safe side , so she doesn't get sick because the vets in Houston as is with every other place are really expensive.

We have a 6 month Persian indoor cat and we feed it IAMS cat food or Purina One cat food. Usually the first couple of weeks the cat is adjusting to its new home, so give it sometime to make it self comfortable.

As said it is best to just give her cat food which can be found at walmart or pet stores such as Petco and Petsmart. The "candies" i guess your referring to cat treats if that is the case you can give some if you want, but cat food will suffice if you follow the directions on the bag on how much to give.
wasalaam

I am interrupting this thread to inform readers that adding ketchup on hotdog is against the etiquette of making hotdogs. In Chicago if you put ketchup on a hotdog you will get thrown out of the establishment/bbq. The best way to make hotdog is bbq.

OK continue on. I am sorry I dont know the fiqh of cats. I will make dua for your cat though Allah swt protect it from harm, give barakah in its life and health and sustenance and give it lots of cute kittens, ameen! Now you have more rights to worry about. Cat is a big responsibility, reason why Fusus doesnt keep pets though he loves pets especially birds. This cat could be your ticket to jannah!

Btw does anyone know the real name of Abu Hurayra ra? The real name of Abu Hurayra, which most people have forgotten, is Abdur Rahman. And prior to Islam his name was Abdus Shams. Look here at how much effect the words of Rasoolullah salallahu alayhi wa sallam had that people have completely forgotten his original name. One time he had a kitten in his sleeve, Rasoolullah salallahu alayhi wa sallam asked him, "Whats that?" He showed the kitten. Rasoolullah salallahu alayhi wa sallam then said, "Anta Abu Hurayra" - these words stuck to him like glue that the muhaditheen had to provide daleel in order to prove his name is Abdur Rahman.

http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/mash.gif nice thread, Allahumma zid fa zid.

http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/salam.gif Agreed.

As for food, you can always try feeding the cat pure canned fish, I'm sure you must get them in USA. You'll just have to schedule it so that the food gets eaten when you put it, and that the cat doesn't demand too much. Milk is ok only once in a little while, because cat's stomach can't handle it. Like brother mentioned, fresh water is best, although if milk spills accidently, I don't wipe it up, cat does that job.

My advice is to feed it different kinds of food, don't stick to one, otherwise you'll get a cat who is stuck on one food like mine is... she is so strange she wont even go for the scraps.. although she'll eat polony. I think there is halal cat food in britain.

As for feeding halal, that is something we have to do because a Muslim has to feed another person halaal food. Practically if you can, do feed it so. If you can't find any food free from meat, then http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/insh.gif you'll be excused. This my husband asked from a Mufti here.

ps. Woah, Turkish Angora! Those are the most beautiful cats in my opinion! http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/subh.gif

If I had a cat it would be fed the best hyderabadi biryani. I would give it my khaas chai 3 times a day. Alhamdulillah I am an expert at making good chai. My cat would be named Hayraan 'astonished'. Also I would give it paan tho I have stopped eating. Hayraan would be my paan partner.

Why don't u secretly keep the cat? Then in a year, on eid, reveal to ur wife "sweetness, I've had a persian for the past year, I wanna bring her home now."

I think it can work.
