OK, but lets face it many men will beat their wives regardless of the conditions mentioned. I am not disagreeing with the fatwa I am in agreement with it.

Yet another proof, silencing the "traditionalists" apologetics and misquotings:

Wife Beating - Mufti Abdur Rahman Ibn Yusuf Mangera - http://www.zamzamacademy.com/2010/09/wife-beating/

Wait! The cars don't symbolize the madhabs, the 4 lanes are the madhabs, and you are the car & all the 4 lanes reach the same destination.

They take turns in each car, in various lanes, sometimes running the shortest course (inner lane), at other times the longer (outside lane). We don't get to see the drivers, we just know they're there and they switch cars so it doesn't matter. Besides, just like Stig, they'd be hard to recognize.

[BTW, just to be clear... this is not fact]

Salaamu alaikum. Brother, I disagree with your sarcasm towards Seekersguidance and Sunnipath/Qibla. They are great resources on traditional Islam. Many of Mufti Abdur-Rahman's postings also are on Sunnipath/Qibla, so if you use him as a resource you should realize that he associates with and respects the scholars from Sunnipath/Qibla as well. Also, here Shaykh Faraz adds further details about this issue of hitting:

Seekerguidance has gone downwards in a specific path which has already been denounced and explained in detail in other threads. From "traditional Islam" they have gone to "reformisty traditionalism".
Something similar to what happened to Shaykh Hamza Yusuf: from denouncing secularism to sharing platform with the deviant Tariq Ramadan..

Yes, in the past Mufti Abdur Rahman Ibn Yusuf as well as Mufti Muhammad Ibn Adam al-Kawthari, Shaykh Ilyas Patel and other reliable scholars' fatawa were hosted on Sunnipath..

..Now, Seekerguidance is following another path.

Salaamu alaikum. I still disagree brother. For example, both Mufti Abdur Rahman and Mufti Muhammad Ibn Adam have fatwas posted on Seekersguidance.

For example:

http://seekersguidance.org/ans-blog/...count-holders/

http://seekersguidance.org/ans-blog/...ire-for-women/

Also, Shaykh Nuh Keller, who wrote Sunnipath/Qibla's vision statement is the Shakyh of Shaykh Faraz Rabbani.

Even more, huge scholars such as Habib Ali attended Shaykh Faraz's Seekershub in Toronto very recently.

So it does not make sense as to why these giants of the Ummah would associate with SG if they were headed down another path as you claim. Also, you may want to re-read Sh. Faraz's fatwa that you had a problem with. He mentions abuse is not allowed. Abuse is different than hitting.

Brother, this is an argument invoked by nearly every deviant group, as "look, if my Shaykh was really a deviant, why did Shaykh XYZ visited him last year", etc. etc.
Haqqanis are a "good" example in using this same "connections-business", and they too may use the name of Shaykh Habib 'Ali etc..

But this is not a proof of anything.
Every scholar will be judged according to his own actions/statements, not just according to the relations he has with other scholars, and it's "normal" for scholars to have many links and contacts with each other.

You may want to read this thread in which others have used this same arguments and other brothers "refuted" it and gave more insight:

http://www.sunniforum.com/forum/show...California-USA

And, regarding the "traditionalism" phenomenon:

The danger of the traditionalists - http://www.sunniforum.com/forum/show...raditionalists

What's wrong with the traditionalists? - http://www.sunniforum.com/forum/show...raditionalists

It may be argued that this is basically the most common excuses used to justify violations of Shari'ah invoking the "authority principle".
