Asalaamu Alaikum.
People can often get harmed from magic, evil eye / nazar, curse, bad luck, possession by Jinns and ghosts, etc. But the first line of defence: How do we ensure that magics and evil eyes does not even affect us in the first place? Thanks in advance. |

wa'alaykum assalaam
Although the issue of magic, evil eye, curse, jinn haunting and possession is very real, ALLAH swt the Most Merciful has not left us without any means of handling this matter. Islam via arRasul s.a.w. has taught us several a'maal for us to protect and cure from this ailments. One amal is one of the adaab of sleeping, yakni recite 3 quls (ie sura al-Ikhlas, al-Falaq, an-Naas) and blow unto one's palm, and wipe the whole body (from head to feet) and do 3x Other than that, reciting certain ayaat from the Qur'an, can also be our way of ikhtiar/attempt seeking protection/cure from ALLAH from the harms of the magic, jinns etc. An example of collection of ayaat from the Qur'an are the ayaat of ruqyah such as popularly known as Manzil. Also masnun du'as such as below... It was narrated that Ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to seek refuge for al-Hasan and al-Husayn, and he would say, ‘Your father (meaning Ibrahim a.s) used to seek refuge with Allah for Isma'il and Ishaq with these words; أعوذ بكلمات الله التامه من كل شيطان و هامه ومن كل عين لامه (A`udzu bi kalimaati llaahi ttaammah, min kulli shaytanin wa haammah wa min kulli 'aynin lammah / I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allaah, from every syaitan and every mishap, and from every evil eye). - hadith Bukhari wallaahu a'lam |

It seems whenevr I praise my son, something always goes wrong or he starts misbehaving . Hence, yes a mother who has hasad of her own son, is able to cast evil eye to her own son. For protection, can recite the above du'a that Nabi s.a.w. made for his 2 beloved grandsons Sayyidina Hasan and Hussain r.a.huma. It is good if this du'a is included in one's daily du'a to be recited in the morning (eg after fajr solat) and evening (after asr) If one recite the du'a to another person, just change the dhamiir (pronoun) ie if recite for ownself ... A'uudzu bi... if recite for another person (male) ... U'iidzuka bi ... if for another person (female) ... U'iidzuki bi ... wallaahu a'lam. |

![]() If we stay on the deen in all aspects of our lives to the best of our abilities (including and especially 5x daily salat on time without miss) and recite Surah Ikhlaas, Surah Falaq, Surah Naas, and Ayat-ul-Kursi a few times daily, Insha'Allah we have nothing to worry about in regards to evil, magic, bad 'nazar', etc. We should also try to get our families (and those with kids, teach your kids!) in the habit of reciting these on a daily basis as well Insha'Allah. Allah knows best. ![]() ![]() |

It seems whenevr I praise my son, something always goes wrong or he starts misbehaving . ![]() The last 2 ayahs of Surah Qalam, 29th Para will help a lot inshaAllah! They are a cure for evil eye. |

Assalamu Alaikum.
Some of the things I could think of= # Recite Suras Ikh-las, falaq, Naas in mornin and evening, before leaving house, etc. # Regular Salat # not staying impure for long; # Duas for going in and out of toilet # Saying Subhanallah, etc on seeing something wonderful # Carefully dispose cut-hairs, nails # not to go to haunted houses or deserted graves Some people follow these= # Stay inside home from sunset to sunrise (unless going out for Salat or work) # put a black dot on head (South Asia) # hanging chili and onion (South Asia) |
