Do Christians follow Jesus more than Muslims or is it the other way round?

Points 1 to 8 taken from post #9 of the above thread with my additional comments in square brackets [....]:

1. Jesus worshipped only one God and he always called others to worship only one God.......just like Muslims do
2. Jesus used to have a beard just like all other prophets, even the picture that today's Christians "imagine" for Jesus is for a man having a beard.......just like Muslim men do
3. Jesus was circumcised.......just like Muslim men do
4. The Mother of Jesus Mary was covering her hair, and all the pictures in today's churches that they "think" that its for her is a picture of a woman with a scarf........just like Muslim women do
5. Jesus used to pray and prostrate.......just like Muslims do [inc. Old Testament prophets such as Abraham, Moses and Aaron]
6. Jesus used to fast....just like Muslims do [Jesus: without food (and water) for 40 days]
7. Jesus used to make ablution before prayer........just like Muslims do [inc. Old Testament prophets such as Moses and Aaron, as did St. Paul]
8. Jesus didn't eat pork...........Just like Muslims do

I added some more points (references can be provided on request):
http://www.iupui.edu/~msaiupui/muslimprayer.html

9. Kosher meat was eaten by Jesus. Muslim do too (halaal = kosher).
10. Moses took off his shoes on Mount Sinai as it was holy ground. Muslim take shoes off before prayer.
11. There was a "direction" for prayer in the Old Testament. Muslims pray towards Makkah.
12. There was a "call" for prayer in the Old Testament. Muslims have the Adhaan.
13. The posture for supplication (du'a) in Muslim prayer is IDENTICAL to this verse:

"...when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and supplication unto the Lord, he arose from before the altar of the Lord, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven."-(1 KINGS 8:54).

http://www.iupui.edu/~msaiupui/images/salat4.jpg
See posture here and compare with 1 Kings 8:54

14. Jesus instructed his disciples to greet with "Peace be upon you" setting the example himself in Luke and John. Muslims say that in Arabic.
15. The small book of James says for something to occur in the future say "If God wills it". Muslims speak "Insha-Allah" in Arabic.
16. Jesus as well as previous prophets wore modest dress which Muslims should aspire to!

Feel free to add to this list.

It could be argued "Christianity" is more strange to Jesus than Islam is to Jesus! http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...n_rolleyes.gif

There will be of course some Christian sects / churches who may do some of these above points. But generally it is the Muslim who is the real follower of Jesus because he is the one following the original message of Jesus. Christians are following a mixture of Jesus, Paul, the Church, Pagan religions, etc.

Salam.

I don't see the point of this question. They are both our Prophets and we are following the truth and we can prove that the Quran is the Kalaamallah. The Christians, Jews etc are following Falsehood.

Rasulullah http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/pbuh.gif prayed wearing shoes, occasionally. You can wear shoes when you pray (proved that it is appropriate and certain conditions are met).

No where in the Bible does it say that Jesus had a beard.

And many pictures of Jesus in the various Churches depict him as clean shaven without a beard.

In reality, no one actually knows what Jesus looked like in real life.

gettoblaster 08-02-2012 07:54 AM

On a more serious note....

No where in the Bible does it say that Jesus says "I am God", "Worship me" or "Pray to me".

And many pictures of Jesus in the various Churches depict him as "God".

In reality, no one actually knows what Jesus said in real life (because we don't have his words preserved in his mother tongue, Aramaic).

This is dangerously misleading for Muslims and horribly over-simplifies the two specifications. Please exercise caution in making any such declarations.

I have to agree with you on this brother.

Halal is kind of like Kosher Lite.

markbila 08-02-2012 08:20 AM

Halal is mainly about avoiding pork and pork products.

Kosher involves not only pork.

But also certain fish and various other sea creatures and land animals.

Please be careful to not over-simply the definition of halal food, either. As Muslims, for the most part, we cannot consume anything with animal products in it unless the animal has been properly slaughtered according to Islamic principles and guidelines. It would benefit you greatly to do some research on Dhabihah and Islamic dietary guidelines because it is a very important matter in Islam.

I should have been clearer - but kosher meat is equivalent to halaal meat? I mean the meat not the whole principle of kosher and halaal which are "defined" differently.

I once knew a Jewish guy who told me that Halal meat is not considered Kosher.

Rephrase: kosher = halaal.

Jews won't consider halaal meat kosher as they reject Muhammad and the Qur'an. But we inherit the Jewish tradition to some extent.

I don't it's only because of that, maybe it also has something to do with the way they prepare their meat?

99.9% of all Christians believe that Jesus is God.

Jehovah Witness are the only Christian denomination that I am aware of that does not accept Jesus as God.

Christadelphians. Also Unitarians.

iiilizium 08-03-2012 12:05 PM

This "Trinity(!)" - I mean trio of Christadelphians, Unitarians and Jehovah Witnesses don't believe in the Trinity and don't accept Jesus as God.

However, C & U say Jesus is a prophet / man and "son of God" in a non-Divine manner like Muslims. JW believe him to be more than a prophet / man but not God as in "son of God" so he's kind of "semi-divine":

Human < Jesus < God instead of Jesus = Human. ("
