To which extent a women is allowed to study in Islam? Bachelors, Masters and MS? I read here some thread where a sister asked to leave Medical line and prefer Deeni knowledge.

a sister SHOULD study as much as humanly possible inshAllah, and benefit the ummmah with that knowledge bi ithnillah. Ummul mu'mineen ayesha RAA is your example for this inshAllah, a giant of knwledge in medicine and hadeeth and fiqh

She RA was in medicine too?

we also need female dentists, midwives, nurses, surgeons etc if the medicle field is beign considered

A sister with strong imaan and a good profession and a strong desire to help the ummah with her skills is a valuable asset to islam inshallah

A female may study at length in whichever field as long as she confines in the parameters of Shariah. Islam does encourage them to take up those profession but NOT at the expense of compromising their religious duties like hijab/niqab, abstaining from intermingling with men, emerging from home without valid reason etc.

Sayidah Ayesha r.a was taught in ruqya, a form of medicine in their time but to my knowledge she was not a tabeeb (doctor). Basic ruqyas are taught in bahishti zewar as well. one can learn from there.

Ummah needs to ground themselves in fulfiling the laws of Shariah, that will inculcate the elevation of the status of bother brothers and sister.

Which is why we need rich Muslims to pool their resources and setup girls only medical/nursing/engineering colleges (such as Shia girls medical college in Lucknow).

I was talking to a friend in Delhi who narrated horrowing incidences of what takes place when non-Muslim doctors (some of these crooks pay bribe to be posted in Muslim dominated areas) are posted to Muslim dominated areas. The fitnah that takes place there is far greater than what would happen even if we let our girls go and study in coeducation environment. Sadly, the scholars purposefully ignore these facts, I don't want to add anything here, but I am sure you guys get my point.

Don't for a second think that I am against scholars, I have an utmost repsect for them and I strongly believe that they are the flag bearer of our deen - a shepard who is trying to keep sheep like us away from predators. However, I think they need to broaden their horizons, they must try and motivate people who listen to them and respect them to spend money in the cause of setting up Islamic infrastructure, such as schools, medical colleges, engineering college, management schools, along with Islamic schools. We need to make advance on multiple fronts at the same time to be able to improve the condition of our lot.

is there any other muslim country except saudi arabia that has gender segregated universities with opportunities for sisters to study?

depends where the person is i suppose...in the west they have certain rules where women must wear short sleeves...no niqaab etc in the medical field

Pakistan and some very good ones.

I am sure there are women only colleges in Pakistan, which also have no problem with women attending with niqabs.

there are colleges in pakistan that are gender segregated. dont think there are any such universities. if there are i never heard of them

Neither did I. I think we just need to obey Allah and follow his commands and HE will take care of our health and medical needs.

No need to encourage muslim girls to go out and become doctors in an environment where they will be forced to compromise their hijaab, femininity and modesty.

Here in the UK its quite hard to become a doctor and work e.t.c with a niqaab on. Plus you have to intermingle with doctors of the opposite gender...I guess its just a choice of deen or dunya sometimes.

and your last statement stresses, she needs more to focus deen not this education? thats why I asked if Bachelors will suffice?

Brother there are some if not many Medical colleges in Pakistan for women, and universities too.

Sister are you sure you want to be a doctor. Coz you will have to study stuff like these:
"The negative charge of a nondiffusible anion hinders diffusion of the diffusible cations and favors diffusion of the diffusible anions."
This is just a sample from Physiology, which is a first year subject.

But if you are game for it, no problem I guess. May Allah grant you the best career for you and barakah in it. ameen.

here in our town, there is a sister who is Dentist by profession. Her husband is MashaAllah too strict or modest you can say. She has her own clinic at home and that is only for Women. Is it not a good idea?

and I really want to know sister, what you think, at which length we should put a dot to our educational career?
