Non mathab Muslims make haram 2 halal by reciting Bismila on already slaughtered meat

I met some Egyptian modernist Muslims who said already slaughtered meat can become halal just by reciting Bismilah when eating it. I think this fatwa was passed by Muhammad Abduh or some other similar modernist.

This is one of the fitnah of the la madhhabiyyah. They distort a clear hadeeth on this issue or they completely misunderstand it.

They actually use a fatwa by Shaykh Uthaymeen (RA) where he says you need not ask where the meat came from, etc which clearly goes against Ijma on this issue. See a breakdown and refutation here: http://www.kalamullah.com/Books/the-...n-the-west.pdf

The Sheikh based his ruling on the assumption that America is a country of Ahl al-Kitaab. He was told by one of his students that there was a mixture of Ahl al-Kitaab, communists, atheists, what-have-you here, and he said, if that is true, then it is not halal for you if you doubt the religion of the slaughterer. The Lajnah has passed the same fatwa.

Sadly, the Kingdom does not care about revised fatawa and imports meat slaughtered by Allah http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/taala.gif-knows-who in Brazil in bulk. It even has meat that is directly imported from Europe and the USA. I was shocked to find "Oscar Mayer" brands of meat being sold at Tamimi supermarkets. It has become such an epidemic in the Kingdom that people have difficulty finding halal meat in Makkah Mukarramah and Madinah Munawwarah. When I was in Makkah a few months ago, I had to stick to one restaurant and the same at Madinah. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/alhamd.gif I was fortunate enough to find restaurants that served local chicken.

That's pretty sick. It's a shame that you have to dodge haram and doubtful meat in the Haramain.

If you have any references, I'd be pleased to see them. (I believe you but was discussing this on another forum so a reference would be useful for me and http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/insh.gif people will start using the revised fatwa)

Non mathab in Indonesia have done it since middle of 80's when they went to non-Muslim countries.

The Lajnah was easy to find. Here's the fatwa.

http://www.alifta.com/Fatawa/FatawaC...eNo=1&BookID=7

In text:

Q 2: We live side by side with Christians, pagans, and ignorant Muslims. We buy the animals they slaughter but we do not know whether or not they pronounce the Name of Allah at the time of slaughter? What is the ruling on eating the meat of animals slaughtered by all these people, considering that it is difficult to distinguish between the animals they slaughter? What is the ruling on eating the meat of animals slaughtered with machines imported from Kafir countries?

A: if a Muslim happens to live side by side with the People of the Book, pagans, and ignorant Muslims whom he doubts pronounce the Name of Allah upon slaughtering their animals, it is prohibited for him to consume the meat of these animals. The reason being that the basic principle in the Shari`ah (Islamic Law) is that it is forbidden to eat the meat of cattle or any animals which are Islamically lawful to consume unless they are Islamically slaughtered.
(Part No. 22; Page No. 451)
Because the questioner doubts the manner in which these animals are slaughtered due to having a mixture of slaughterers who hold different belief-systems, it is forbidden for him to eat the meat of the animals slaughtered by them.
A Muslim may, however, eat the meat of animals which he is able to distinguish as having been slaughtered by Muslims or the People of the Book even if the latter forgets to pronounce the Name of Allah upon slaughtering.
A Muslim should be concerned with every aspect of his religion and should be keen on knowing the lawfulness of what he eats, drinks, or wears. In similar cases, it is preferable for those who follow the Prophet's methodology to choose trusted slaughterers so that they will not doubt the lawfulness of the meat they consume.
May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions. I'll find the other one later http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/insh.gif.

Wow, thats good... Why to have halal meat shops? Buying one pound of halal chicken for 3.99$...no...lets get 1 pound chicken for 1$ & recite Bismillah.
You save 3 dollars and it becomes Halal.... What an idea???

I can offer no links but I heard it also (read the eng. on-screen transcript) on a youtube video. From my poor memory he said (my words) "if you are not sure the animal was slaughtered by ahl-kitaab then best to abstain from it."
