Is being in the Army, Navy, or Air Force, in your country a good or bad thing?

In other words, are military people in your native country admired or hated?

I was in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Are you proud of your tour of duty in Vietnam?

Muahammad Ali did not go to Vietnam and his Heavy weight title was taken away from him. He said he had no quarrel with brown people (in Vietnam) who live on the other side of the world from him, and he did not see why he had to go over there and kill people just because some people in Washington thought it was a good idea.

I do not like the idea of politicians being able to send off their national armies into wars that have nothing to do with one. So why join these armies and allow myself to be a killer instrument in someone elses war.
