assalamu 'alaykum,

It's the Barelwi version of Tablighi Jamat. They wear their signature green turbans. The founder I think copied the TJ format but made slight modifications such as referring to jamats as madni kaflay and reducing the 40 day chilla to 30 days. They also have a "tasawwuf" element to their organization such as being required to give baya' to their main pir. Furthermore, they have their own version of Fadhail-e-Amal as well, it's referred to as Faizan-e-Sunnat. Dawat-e-Islami was founded in 1980 by an 'atr (perfurme) seller named Ilyas Qadri. The organization has a large following in Pakistan. They are known for providing loads of food (and halwa) to their devotees and women also attend their events.

Barelwis usually refer to themselves as "ahle sunnat", but yes, it's probably the same group.

I'm not sure what you mean by that.

Ok. I guess there's nothing intrinsically wrong in saying that. I think pretty much every group claims to be the standard-bearer of Sunna.

Dawat-e-Islami is wearing (only) green turbans, reciting naats and salaam, preaching Innovations, increasing noice pollution with Loud Speakers and declaring Non-Barelvis, Kafir.

Hang on, is this the same Dawat-e-Islami were Dr Israr Ahmed is the head of? or speaker of?

Dont the likes of Abdur-Raheem Green, Hussain Yee, Dr Zakir Naik follow them?

Isn't this Dawat-e-Islami an offshoot of Jamaat-e-Islami?

And the likes of Abdur Raheem Green etc, aren't they Ahlal Hadith followers? shouldn't they be condeming Barelwis? because they normally do.

Maybe i got mixed up with the wrong group, some one please explain.

Dawat-e-islami are the most hardcore barelwis founded by Muhammad Ilyas Attar Qadri Razavi in 1980s.Their main base is in Karachi (Fazain-e-Medina).They wear green turban and normlly have white or brown shawl on top.

Okay, is Dr Israr Ahmed part of Dawat-e-Islami?

And isn't he shown on Peace TV, the Ahlul Hadeeth [Indian Salafis] Channel?

I heard Dr Israr Ahmed was part of Jamat-e-Islami as i heard this from someone.

Whats are their views and what do they get up to with hard evidence please?

Before you spread more BS,make a list of all the evidence with backup proving your claims.Dawat-e-islami is spreading rapidly and doing alot of dawah work around the world.IF you hate berelwis than keep it to yourself.

Okay.. QUIET ALL OF YOU!

SubhanAllah.. one is talking of deobandi Ulama.. and other of Da'wa group.. The maqasid of both are good. I have known quite a few D-I brotheren in my locality in pakistan.. generally they are not that bad mouth.. so br. kangjia .. you too shouldnt display badmouthing...

Yes they wear green Imama... which according to Ilyas Qadri Saheb himself is not a good thing. One wonders then, why he does wear it. Actually there is a youtube statement of his out there making radd of it.. but that is also the view of many many ulama.. The ikhtalaf of what is afdhal in imamah is between black and white imama. (but unfortunately they have become makhsoos to Jamat Tabligh) so the da'wat Islami had to opt for a different colour. but I have seen them wear black at time.. and dark green at other times as well.. but normally it is parrot green.. really awkward..yet attractive at times..

They (their awaam) prefer green because they iterate that it was the most beloved colour of Rasulullah which is incorrect. You can expect that from awaam.

Secondly.. They wear white shalwar Qamees.. in fact two of my sets were sewn by a very staunch dawat islami taylor. There is nothing wrong with it.

They keep a miswak handy in their upper left pocket.. nothing downtrodden in that as well.

The keep a green comb as well. I never realize the function for that.. in the whole sunnati libaas..

They also wear shawls, black or brown.. they iterate Rasulullah was kali kamli walay.. so black shawl is preferred...

This is their physical outlook.. As for their da'wah.. it is an extreme copy of Tablighi Jamaat and a little more.. most of their marakiz have a special desk for ta'weezaat and tabarakaat. I had the oppertinuty to visit one in Rawalpindi.

Since they are barelwies, so yes, they are a bit harsh about those who do not do customary things .. like raise hands for dua after prayer.. say lailaha aloud.. etc etc.. You would get stares if you do any of these things.. but that is also because they do not expect a deobandi wahabi to be sitting amongst them.

most of their bayans or sales pitch will start with "Mere piyare piyare madani bhaiyon"..or "mere meethay methay madani bhaiyo".. just like the TJ aami would say "Our success and the success of the mankind....".. its the same idea.. just madinafied...

In my time at their markaz I didnt have any problems .. no one bothered me so I didnt make any negative gumaan of them..

P.S Now if anyone has to speak.. will speak with adab.. or be silenced..

Sidi AbuHajirah

I seen a poster in my locality where there is a talk....and it is Sponsored by 'Dawat ul Islam', and it had as a list of speakers, including Abdur-Rahman Green, Hussain Yee etc.

I have the leaflet in front of my face.

Unless Dawat ul Islam and Dawat-e-Islami are 2 different groups? Moreover this leaflet was in a Barelwi Masjid which i went to the other day, thats why i am really really confused.

I agree with Abuhajira. We should maintan our adab regardless of differences. If the tablighis started taking shots at Dawat-e-Islami, that won't reflect very nicely on their own effort --- which alhamdulillah no doubt is the original blessed effort. ; )
